I just learned something about the two blue wires, you’ll want to wire the blue wire with the white dash to its matching cable but the solid blue cable in with the red cables. It’s the power antenna cable so you’ll want it to turn on with the ignition (the red cable). I just left the power antenna cable to float freely as my NB doesn’t have one.

That’s a good way too!

hey man i just purchased this radio also and how flush is it with the face of the OEM panels?
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
It's fairly flush. The design of the radio it needs to sit out just a little but it's the perfect fitment! I just updated the video info with all links to the stuff I bought for the install

How did u bypass the Bose system
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
So I’m not even sure if this was the proper way but I connected the blue wires together. One radio wire, amp power wire, and then connected to the head unit wire. So technically it’s powering the amp. It’s two wires into one wire Audio works fine and I haven’t had an issue. I actually took out the Bose speakers and replaced with M800 speakers. The driver side Bose speaker was blown.

I bought one of the sony units with the USB coming out the back so I'm going to wire the connection to a USB where the cigarette port is. Should be really clean.
@joeltnguyen Жыл бұрын
I think those were the first generation one. Great for routing a USB wire to the glove or center console

What did you do with the old radio? Im trying to go all oem with my rebuild
@joeltnguyen Жыл бұрын
I'm keeping it for now, just in case I want to restore it to all oem. Good luck on the hunt for the radio though!

How did you put the Metra 99-7505 together? The side pieces don't seem to click in or anything?
@joeltnguyen Жыл бұрын
It slides in, but doesn’t really click. But the fitment should be snug enough to not have any issues

Did you end up having to use the handbrake cable
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
I did not! Not sure if you need to but it works fine without in my miata. However, if you have a more modern car you can. Also, if you have a reverse camera (after market or OEM), to activate I believe you wire the reverse camera wire to the reverse light. Of course you would need to research and see which wire that is for your exact car.

did you end up connecting the 3 blue wires ?
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
Yes I did, I have the 2 wires from the harness spliced into the one from the radio harness! I don't use my radio and I have an aftermarket shorty antenna so not sure if it works properly haha
@maxwelldangelo32322 жыл бұрын
what did you do about the orange wires? because there’s only one orange and one orange and white striped. my speakers are crackling because of all the wires that don’t have second wire
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
@@maxwelldangelo3232 I don’t remember what the orange wire was but did you make sure to ground? There’s actually a spade connector for ground but I didn’t know until I grounded to the metal frame. Also the static could be from the oem Bose speakers. I actually replaced the speakers with something else
@maxwelldangelo32322 жыл бұрын
@@joeltnguyen the orange and orange/white are for the dimmer and illumination. i just lost my parking, tail, and dash lights and I read that new headunits can mess with those lights functioning properly. It also turns out I never installed the smaller connector the with purple and green wires.
@joeltnguyen2 жыл бұрын
@@maxwelldangelo3232 sounds like a short. Did you disconnect the battery during install? Also what car and make are you doing. Sometimes the colors don’t match up correctly and you’ll then need to refer to the wire name.
