EVF still looks a bit Wonky, based upon the video, similar concept as the Arri EVF setup, but badly executed. At $25k, I doubt many FX9 shooters will be buying it, seems more like a solid mid-range entry with some cool new features for a cine camera. Very interesting that Sony has gone to CF Express Type B! Hopefully the new crop of Sonys, as they come out, will all go to CF Express Type B eventually, the costs are MUCH more reasonable than the CFAs. Perfect B camera for a Venice 2 shoot. It'll be interesting to see how the market responds to this at it's price range. The C500 MKII was aimed at the lower end of the same market and I think it's safe to say that the sales of the 500 MKII were disappointing because the 300 MKIII was a better value. A cine camera with AF, VND, locking E-mount (but also PL) is innovative, I give Sony their due on this. I wonder how many units Sony would sell to consider the Burano a success?

I still use my Sidefinder and just love it! I only wish I could use the 502 Bright in it and it had the computing power for full cross-conversation and LUT output plus audio pass through which it lacks. I’d jump on a new 5in OLED monitor with an ARRI style monitor/viewfinder setup.

Excellent interview ! This camera looks great. I'll upgrade from my trusty FS7 to the Burano next year. I wonder if Sony or someone else will come out with a mechanism to have the auto focus control a motor attached to the focus ring of manual PL lenses.

I guess it would need LiDar for that
@inv1cmaj11 ай бұрын
It would just need the same sort of signal it sends to AF lenses, but instead send to a focus motor geared to the focus ring of a manual focus lens. Maybe they could use a serial signal sent via the TC output port. Obviously this would take and R&D effort.@@CineD

@Darmasdk11 ай бұрын
You're somewhat right. The A1, VENICE and BURANO use EXMOR RS sensor technology. The "S" stands for "Stacked Ram" which gives superb readout speed with minimal rolling shutter. FX30-9 uses EXMOR R. A lower cost sensor which has a higher rolling shutter. But none of the camera have exact same sensor, all are a tiny bit different

@@CineD I totally appreciate that but im always surprised that when everyone is super excited to see a new camera that the first thing that is out there ought to be some camera masters that can be downloaded like they have with the venice or arri. Maybe you are not allowed but in general anyone interested in a camera at this or any range wants to know what the footage actually is like ungraded not least assuming its amazing that the files dont break the computer system. I didnt see any files available from sony. ?? The functionality of a camera can be done in five minutes as these features are now pretty universal and as much fun as it is in kicking the tyres of a camera what is under the hood is really what makes things interesting. In my opinion so called in depth camera tests are rarely useful if they don’t contain the masters to download. The specs and price of this camera speak for themselves as do the files available all in the manual. Unless we can apply stabilisation in post to the three axis in camera and say yep that works then that feature cant be ticked iff the spec sheet as there and working. No open gate for anamorphic cant be fixed. The sensor can always be cropped but that isnt the same. It would have great if you guys had pressed them on that. Clearly that is a massive delineator from the venice helium and alexa. Why? Maybe 8k is plenty to crop in on? Thx so much.
