Those xavc-si files are HUGE. Is there a noticeable difference in quality with xavc-s?

Nope. The difference is in compression and how it will slow down/ freeze up your computer when editing. So for me, I’d rather have larger files but be able to edit quickly and smoothly to get projects done faster and without frustration 🤙🏼

Not LUT is burned in. It just shows the LUT on screen. All footage is still in SLOG3 when editing 🤙🏼

I picked up a used FX3 and Sony 55mm 1.8 Zeiss lens today, and to my eye it looks cropped to APS-C. Looks strangely tight for a full frame sensor. It says APS-C mode is off… what else could it be?

Maybe check the stabilization? That will crop in if it’s on standard or active

I was looking to setup my fx3 since i bought it i was just frustrated how to set it up for shooting videos and editing them…is there a way to set it up and not have it disappear when u turn it on again like programming it so that those aettings always stay like what u had..have it aetup for alow motion, 24fps, 60fps, or 120 and always have it set that way and not have to reenter those settings each time..if u could make a video how to set up custom settings that would be great thanks…

YES. Look at memory recall. I have M1, M2 and M3 set up as different fps so I can switch between them and keep the camera settings locked in when switching. Look at Chris Brockhurst' channel, he has a guide on there.

What lens do you recommend for the FX3 to give it the best quality with SLOG3?

It all depends on what you’re wanting out of a lens. I usually recommend a 24-70 or 24-105 as a great all-round lens.

Thanks for the video. Quick question how come the frame rate now shows as decimals and not whole number’s ? 23.98 instead of 24? I just purchased an fx3 and it’s is the same way but everyone else’s show in whole numbers. Is that a firmware upgrade?

True 24fps is only available in XAVC S-I DCI 4K format

Thanks so much! Any SD-XC v90 card should do great. I usually get SanDisk, Lexar or ProGrade. Or any CF Express type A cards 🤙🏼

Thanks!! If you are just shooting video, I would recommend the fx3 but if you want both photo and video, the a7rv is a great option. The a7rv unfortunately crops in 1.24x when shooting 4k/60 though.

No proxies for me. That’s why I shoot h264. So even though the files are bigger, they are easier on my computer and I can save time in my edit.

my iso goes from 800 to 1000 to 1200 it doesnt jump to 12000

If you have the fx3 in cine ei mode and set up the ISO button to switch between native ISO values, then you’ll be able to switch back and forth between 800 and 12800 🤙🏼

Actually, h265 yells better quality at lower file size, and it has hardware support on all modern cups, including apple's m1-m4, and intel's i-cores as of gen 6 (2016).

I see you Embed the lut, that bakes it in your image, right? Carefull everyone with that, so there is no point in using a log profile…

Nope, even though I have the LUT on, it doesn’t bake into the image. Definitely want to keep the log profile when editing 🤙🏼

First switch from shutter speed to shutter angle. Oh wait you can’t. Because this isn’t actually a cinema camera because Sony intentionally omitted basic cinema camera features to protect their actual cinema cameras. Just an FYI, Panasonic doesn’t do that bullshit. And they actually get regular stable firmware updates.
