I have the FX30 and the FX3. The FX30 goes EVERYWHERE with me EVERYDAY. The FX3 is only coming out when I'm on professional shoots. I'm not saying that the FX30 is my favorite baby, but...😂

I've had my FX30 since it was released. I have been so impressed by it, that it is the first camera I've ever had that I plan on keeping regardless of any cameras I get - or upgrade to - moving forward. I've been shooting some tests in black and white using one of the Creative Looks from the FX30 for a film I am developing. And so far, I've been impressed with how clean the footage is. Plus, shooting in 10-bit I still have flexibility in post with shadows and highlights. The FX30 shoots way above its price point.

Definitely! It’s impressive how good it is!

*I've had Mine since March last year as this replaced my a6400 & ZV-1 and I LOVE This Camera. First it's a Video only camera which I love and it's APS-C which I love also as I can use the same lens AND has a FULL Touch Articulating Screen. Also I love S-Log3 as its helping me learn to color grade when editing Videos. It's perfect for me and My Needs as I also bought my first Cine Lens for this also*

Would you have any lights for a budget setup to recommend?

The FX30 is enough to film a indie feature film? and is better to buy an FX30 or the new ZV E1 with the same sensor of the A7S3 and FX3?
@RileyEndicott8 ай бұрын
The Fx30 definitely good enough to film an indie feature. I don't know enough about your specific needs to answer that. The Fx30 has more pro video features and the ZV E1 is probably better for vlogging.

The FX30 truly is a mini giant! The downsample 6K sensor actually gives it a nicer image than the FX3 (except in extreme low light). Otherwise the high base ISO of 2500 is plenty for 98% of most shooting. Super35 already rules much of Cinema. Now if they would ever open up a 6K RAW feed out the HDMI for external recorders (I am sure they could...) - but that would give the higher end cams too much competition!!

I have a FX30 (with Sigma 18-50mm 2.8 and the Sigma f1.4 trio) for weddings, live events and some corporate videos. I use a A6400 as a B camera but I think a second FX30 would be a better choice. a FX3 would be fantastic but I would also need new glass for it... I use S cinetone mostly. for some weddings NO profile at all... what the hightest ISO you feel comfortable using with the FX30? I don't have access to a denoise plug in. I edit with premiere. Thanks

I don’t use S cinetone enough to recommend a max ISO setting. I would do a couple of tests and see what you’re comfortable with. I’d love to hear what you come up with though! 🙂

Would be great to see how you set your zebras whilst out on a doc shoot to nail exposure, Riley. Everyone shows their routine when in a studio/static set but out in the field isn't as controllable.
@RileyEndicott10 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I mentioned in this video that I set it 1-2 stops above middle grey. That’s exactly what I do in the field 🙂 Since middle grey is 41 IRE in SLog3 that happens to fall somewhere in the 48-50 IRE range. Hope that helps!

@@RileyEndicottonce you set the zebras how do you control how much light going into sensor? I set my aperture fixed, and when it’s dark (shutter fixed at180’ and auto iso) And when it’s bright (auto shutter and iso auto as well cos it will be iso800 anyway) And I will set my wheel to control exposure comp. to make sure the zebras fall in line. I just tried this method in a wedding, and I find it troubling when I was shooting a wedding and the huge spotlight was pointing at the newlyweds and it was overexposed, I quickly turn the wheel to -2.0 but it already ruined the shot, but at post I find that I could dial back down the overexpose image and looks normal! But underexposed tends to be so noisy, so when an image has no bright spots I’m not sure if I should set it to +2.0 and bring it down it post 😅

Because I will be shooting short film n film for film festivals. Also it has wide aperture opening...n will be good for low light. And what nd filter sud I buy for it. Any suggestions

I recommend you to watch this video and this channel has review in the 25 and 35 mm 7artisans for the fx30, really good insights. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2XSpqtrbatlaac

Button layout is annoying. Memory function is useless as you can’t set a custom white balance. High iso noise performance is disappointing. I still recommend this camera though hahah. It is a good cam overall.

It definitely has its quirks but in total is solid. Especially for the price!

How high do you push your ISO? I find up to 3200 very clean and organic (and Resolve can clean that up a bit).
