I've been loving the image quality and ease of use of the FX6! Rigging out this camera has made it even easier to use when it comes to longer shoots. What do you think about this FX6 rig? Would you do anything different? Wireless video transmission?
@ZachTandemXVisuals11 ай бұрын
Great video! Although, it's a shame that the small rig plate doesn't have a quick release off of the dovetail instead of the rods. Would be nice to bring the v-mount and matte box with it!

Question, I'm going to record an interview soon with an fx30 and a fx6. Still doubting what to do with the audio. My plan was to put an boom mic on a c stand and go to xlr straight in to the fx6. And set up an wireless lavelier, that goes also straight in to the fx6. Would you recommend this?
@DavisInDuval Жыл бұрын
The only thing I don't like is you're betting a lot on the small rig battery to work and not have to be swapped out vs a vmount plate with its own connectors.

Is there a plate or quick release system for the dovetail to mount on a tripod? Preferably one from small rig. Ty

How do you charge your smallrig batteries? Love this rig I'm about to get most of the same parts next month tbh
@keith-knittel Жыл бұрын
I charge that v-mount with a USBC cable, love these new v-mounts don't require the D-tap cable to charge. One less cable to take around in the bag

It would be very helpful if you would provide the weight of the setup at various stages: with just (internal) battery and lens (say,- 24-70, or the 28-135 PZ), vs. with external battery, monitor, mic, mattebox, and all the rigging. I think I want my employer to buy this camera…we need something that’s run and gun practical, like a camcorder design, but with a larger sensor. The FX6 seems great, but I need to know how hard it’ll be to carry for hours, compared to a 1” sensor fixed-lens camcorder.

Very interesting take! I'll add that to my todo list - I've honestly never thought of that, as if my rig is too heavy I use my easy rig to take the weight off of my arms for hours at a time. Or just just it on sticks. Do you film run and gun docs where you can use a tripod or easy rig?

Hey! Great video. Thanks. What cable are you using to go from the DC on the Smallrig battery to the ninja? Currently switching to the Smallrig batteries which will leave me with only one D-Tap which will be going into the camera. Is it just a standard DC barrel male to male? Thanks!

For the mic you don’t really need any “adapter”. You can just use any piece of cloth, tape, or preferably some rubber, wrap around your mic and tuck it in the fx6. Should work like a champ
@keith-knittel Жыл бұрын
Havent tried that - have been using a shorter Sony mic and it's been working well, I tried an adapter with longer mics like my mkh 416 and I had to scoot them so far back to keep them balanced on the mic holder it was a little annoying handling the camera. And if you push them too far forward, they sag down and get into the shot on wider lenses.
@DucDigital Жыл бұрын
@@keith-knittel Yep if the mic is too long it might interfere with the field of view. However if you do have a shorter mic, search adhesive rubber tape and pad around the inside of the mic holder / or around the mic. Since it’s rubber you can fit the mic tight so it don’t sag.

The one thing i hate about this setup is if you have a vmount battery powering camera items you can take the bottom plate off as you need the rails...
@keith-knittel8 ай бұрын
If you don't want the rods, wooden camera sells a v-mount battery slide that attaches to the back of the camera. I've been using it for lighter-weight builds and it works great. Pricey, but that does what you want it to do. If I'm using a 150 v-mount battery or more recently, using the DJI transmission, tilta v-mount adapter and a v-mount battery, putting all of the weight on the rods instead of the camera avoids damaging the camera
@IanSnape8 ай бұрын
@@keith-knittel YEs thats what i went with in the end, its a great piece of kit but yeah i agree its PRICEY!

Depends on what you have plugged in, but between 3.5 or 4 hours. More info in this video around the 7 minute mark: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ24YWV7g8-miac

I can't believe Sony still does not offer camera control for external monitors. They also still don't have false color. I think that's a bigger deal than the audio top handle xlr port issue, although that's not great either.
@keith-knittel8 ай бұрын
I would absolutely love to have camera control on an external monitor and not have to always use the stock monitor + external monitor
