Considering other similarly-specced midrange phone for cheaper price, I can see why not everyone prefers the Xperia 10 ii. But then again, I see no midrange phone on sale today that offers IP68 rating and a native telephoto camera. All midrange phones that I see always have a useless small res macro and depth sensor.

That's pretty much the point I was making, except for the telephoto camera. That's useless to me because the camera experience is atrocious. For me the biggest strengths is the screen and the water resistance. But is that enough to justify the price point? I don't think so. --Rory

One thing to consider too is that other similar or even higher spec phones are priced lower than the Xperia 10 ii. At the Xperia 10 ii price point there are other better alternatives with a dedicated telephoto lens. I'm a huge Sony fan and I still have some of their older smartphones but I cannot find myself getting the latest or any other Xperia lineup in the future if they remain subpar but priced like diamonds.

Definitely a Sony hater on this phone at least, even though you say you ain't. You just don't get it. Got this phone and it's definitely not feeling cheap or slow. Yes it's not premium smooth but it's s mid range. Camera ain't that bad at all. Again you have to use manual mode to even use HDR . You right though bout the speakers. And no there is no phone like Xperia 10 II. The 21:9 is just the better reason to have this phone. Love this phone to be honest. Great battery, great screen, 3.5 mm jack, high PPI that's even better than Sony Xperia 5 II. Lots of storage. The multitasking works great. Yes camera is slow, but if you know that it take deasent pictures. One more thing it don't have. A notch or a ugly hole in the screen for a camera. So no, their isn't a phone like this even though it's not the newest midrange specs. And one more thing. It has NFC such ain't that common in midrange phone.

why do people expect so much refined specs from a mid ranger device. I think thats what it is supposed to be, a bit of some good features here and unrefined stuff there thats it. The price says it all you know. Of record however the experia 10ii is not a slow device, I use one and the chipset does handle most of the tasks very well.

It's a GREAT smartphone! A great battery, screen camera and sound for it bug! It isn't slow! For the bug it's great value for money. Dont buy a high end. It is great built. The review is to negatieve. I have the phone and there is no negatives.

There is a negative, a HUGE one. It is missing 4G LTE band 2 and band 66. And I use T-Mobile 33% of all coverage is on band 2 and 22% is on band 66. So now I only have 50% of the coverage. Garbage.

This smartphone was actually pretty good for it's price. Things like highest IP rating, Gorilla Glass 6 for front and back, Dual Front Facing speakers are some of the things that you either cannot or are really hard to find in this price range. The 2 main problems are the chip they used and the fact that they didn't focus much on the software side. Due to this, overall software performance, camera performance and speaker quality suffered. If you compare this to the Pixel 3a (latest A smartphone of that time), it suxks against the Xperia 10 ii in terms of hardware. But just because of a better chipset and amazing focus on software, that smartphone beats the hell out of Xperia 10 ii.

I am using the xperia 10 ii for a month and find your review quite true. Camera is the most downside of this phone imo, but i like it's narrow (width is 69mm), and more importantly it is cheaper in my place at HKD2500 (~RM1330), which is much more reasonable that at your place.

For this kind of phone, I wouldn't really care much about the camera. After all, midrange phones in general is not known for best camera performance.

@@FAT8893 The problem is when I press the shutter, it only takes a photo after 1 or 2 seconds, if I am taking a photo for my cat, it is already gone to another place. Using burst mode, it works fine and will start take photo almost instantly, but the first few photo may be out of focus, but still in normal mode, after waiting 2 seconds, the photo may still be focused on the place not I want, even I have pressed the place I want to focus. That's a bit frustrating.

The reason im chosing this phone is because im looking for a durable phone with great audio output. I rarely use my camera rarely and speakers, but i need a phone that supports bluetooth 5 + Aptx HD and has a phone jack and is IP68 because i live in a country there it rains alot and use even on the gym and i need to spray it so it cleans + i want a compact phone and this is the shortest mindrange i could find.

Because most of Google Pixel phones only have 4GB of RAM and yet it still blazing fast even after three major software version update. If your phone is a Xiaomi or an Oppo or a Vivo, I definitely wouldn't be surprised with your comment.

You can get way better performance elsewhere but for people who aren't smartphone enthusiasts this seems fine honestly. For $350 or less you get below average performance and cameras but you also get a great 6" OLED screen, a headphone jack, full IP rating, no bloatware, no notch or punch hole, great one handed use, hi-res audio over wired and wireless, solid battery, expandable storage. There's better options of course but this phone seems fine

@@omegadrake6119 no that was my point. i bought z5c for 360€ and it had same chip as the z5 which was snapdragon 850? i cant remember but at the time that was high end. camera was not as great as z5 and the phone was smaller, so smaller screen and battery, it was plastic all round. it was high end phone in a small package for a low price. so a midrange phone with high end cpu. then they started to put glass on the back and all that rubbish which we dont need. its not a jewelry, its a phone...but now the market is evolving again and some are making smaller phones with high end chips like samsung. my choices were xperia 10 ii or fairphone 3+. im going towards sustainability...clothes, computers, phones, cars...sustainable or nothing at all ;)

There's a lot of faults with this phone, firstly u can't tap the screen on and off. Then secondly, u can't move the whole screen around when u press and hold on to it. Then thirdly, it doesn't let u select more than one number to delete in the call register meaning u have to delete one at a time. Then fourthly, it doesn't hold two sim cards and a memory card together meaning u can only put one sim card in and a memory card. Then fifthly, there's no opinion to select a number to tell u how many notifications u have for each app, it only gives u opinions for dots. So for all them reasons, i don't rate this phone at all.

Curiosa la queja de que sea caro un móvil de cristal con resistencia ip68 y pantalla OLED con altísima resolución.... Y hace fotos con sensores nativos Exmor R. Y le mueve android stock sin tirar RAM a la basura para mover Miui u otra capa. Además es pequeño, con el formato de una pantalla de cine. Que si no te gusta, no te gusta, pero sé neutral. I hate the fact that they shrunk the display size from 6.5 inch to 6 and the tri-bezeless display to a dou-bezeless which for a sony phone, is really weird. The CPU thought kind of decent but old. The camera thing can be fixed by software. The speaker isn't as good as the 1st gen and they failed the XA series which were killer for their price.

The camera is general is rubbish considering the spec Sony spew The battery is very good Storage.. what's the point of a good sized as storage when you cannot choose the SD card as default?.....
