This is a full video to repair C:32:11 error code for Sony Handycam DCR-HC96.

Wow! THANK YOU! I had given up on my Sony HandyCam CCD-TRV608 for over 3 yrs until your video. I found the dislodged piece inside; easy - used a bent paper clip to put it back in place (easier than heart surgery) and low and behold my the C:31:22 gone and camcorder is working like a charm. !YES!

I've been shown a neat metallurgical trick, by a Sony tech., which allows you to fix this without any disassembly at all and it only takes 7 minutes. See my nevillestyke ebay sales for examples of these models repaired and sold.

I used 7 diff colored sharpies to mark each screw and hole , also used an egg carton to separate them in order of removal... Helped alot

Hi John I have just noticed that there is a small 1.5mm bubble floating around in the front of the lens, it looks like it is in oil and is only visible in certain positions of camera.

@@GG-qd2jt not randomly, i went to a camera repair shop and got it repaired for Rs. 1000/-. Even the repair guy said that there is no guarantee that it will last long. Problem is to solve this issue, whole camcorder needs to be opened, every single part. I was scared what if he missed some part while joining together. But luckily, camcorder worked fine for few days, but then again same issue of cassette stuck came up :(

John Han, I have a Sony DCR-HC26, has the same error. C32:11 Only used it maybe less than 10 times and worked fine. Left a tape inserted for a number of years. The other day I plugged it in to charge up, and after charging it for a few hours turned it on, and the Clock Set Screen came on. No response from the Touchscreen, to be able to set the date/time, the battery is fully charged as per the display indicator. Started recording with it for a few seconds. Camera worked. Power cycled it a couple times, still could not set the Clock Set. Pressed the Tape Eject, and ejected the tape. Now when I insert tape or try to close the unit with no tape, I get the C32:11 error. If I take the battery out and disconnect the Power also. and power up with battery or the power cord, I get Clock Set Screen, and then get the Re-attach the Power Source screen and the Eject Symbol flashing on a blue screen. I never hear the motors move at all. Tried the Reset Button above the speaker, and it reboots and has the same error. If it was the Position Encoder Gear you cleaned and lubricated, then why would it prevent the correct operation of the Touch Screen to set the Clock, and it would record with tape inserted initially. Could it be possible that the Clock battery is dead and interferes with the Camera processor, and causing other errors ? Where is the Clock Battery ? Thank You, Yanek

It sounds like your camera has 2 problems, mode gear for C:32:11 & lcd flex cable for the touch screen. Both problems are known problem. The clock battery is located on the mic circuit board which located behind the front cabinet. Thanks

I have a Sony Handycam Video 8 CCD-TR44 1996 The tape will not load. The door closes and it attempts to go down but stops and comes up and pops out. If I do it without a tape it goes all the way down into a full "load" position.I tried other tapes with same result. I don't see an error code. Thank you

Hello, i disassembled the camera cleaned it and put it back together. The error c:32:11 or c:32:10 is gone but when i try to playback tapes nothing shows up on the screen. I am able to forward and rewind tapes but no image comes up. Whar could it be? Please help me. Do I need to take it apart again or is it something i can try? I have a hdr hc3. Regards Thomas

It sounds like you have 2 problems. E:31:00 is the HDD error and it must be replaced, and for the blue screen problem, it could be a major issue and I need to take a look at it. Thanks,

I have a sony handycam Hi 8 Tr805e,it works very well apart from 1 issue when using the camera there are bars of white running from top to bottom of the screen right across the field of vision, spoiling the picture and capture of video. Now i got another problem, It says no code, but when i load a tape, the camera will not feed tape all the way down, it stops when its 3-4mm left and goes upp again. What can that be? Its an MD N220 Chassi.

Are you able to turn the camera on? if so, it isn't the battery issue. Any error code on the screen?

No.When I try to turn ON, I see that error string: 'The tape is locked - check the tab' fast appearing and then turning off again. And few seconds later it repeats. And when it's in OFF mode - the red LED (under the 'charge' LED) is flashing sometimes. And the 'charge' LED doesn't light.

I have a couple of JVC miniDV camcorder and both have issues with the mechanism causing the tapes to skip, one definitely has cracked reels and I think the other also but more difficult to see on that one, seems its a very common issue with these cameras. It looks like the part is similar or maybe common to this camera but I don't think they are available to purchase at a reasonable price which is annoying as otherwise the cameras are perfect.

In the disassembled condition, when I give power to the engine, everything works, but in the assembled state the error remains. I connect power to the engine - again it works. Nonsense, C:32:11 error is due to main board malfunction, nothing to do with the mechanic deck. Besides, those tiny ribbon connectors are extremely fragile, once pull out there is no easy way to putting it back.

E:61:11 means focus lens intializing failure and zoom lens initializing failure occur simultaneously, so may be a bad connection to the lens block but most likely some physical problem in the lens block (i.e. damage or sticking parts).

Thank you for a very informative video. You must have done a lot of work on this to get it so clear and detailed. Well done! The tape cage on my Sony DCR-HC96 Handycam now moves in and out which it did not do before but there is a moisture warning appearing on the screen. It may be due to stray contact cleaner. The warning is still flashing after several hours rest in a warm place. How do I recognise the sensor that detects moisture, and will cleaning it remove the warning? Your long round nose pliers look very useful for removing and re-inserting ribbon cable without damaging it. Some of the sockets for the ribbon cable are very fragile; so I had to be patient ...... I was careful to note down the position of each screw on a sheet of thick paper and then stick each screw to a 'Sticky Fixer' which I stuck next to the note. It saves a lot of time when re-assembling the camera A 'Sticky Fixer' is a double-sided adhesive foam square made by Sellotape.
