Sony proud of my Sony hap-z1es....probably the best piece of hifi piece I've owned. Hooked it up to my Yamaha A-S1100 amp and Linn kaber speakers. The sound is just phenomenal.

Can I play songs that are downloaded to the hard drive without being on the net tnx

I agree it is an outstanding unit. You can very easily upgrade the hard drive to 2TB. By plugging in an external USB CD you can rip directly to the unit via 2 speed options. I used an Apple external, DVD/CD player. If you’re familiar with SACD ripping, you can play the DSD Stereo version music as well.

Not sure if it really could compare those 5 to 10 times price units, but I think the sound quality is a truely audiophile level. It sounds so much better than my old SCD-1.

I am very with my Z1. I do wish it had a digital out but that's nit picking. I would like to point out that as of today (I know, I just checked 6-1-2015) it can not access Tidal or Spotify.

It can no longer use the built in vTuner now either right? Sony screwed customers again so now you can't even listen to ANY internet radio. You buy Sony anything and you soon regret it. I learned that lesson long ago.

Yeah, they did. Not sure why but there are plenty of other options for internet radio now. They did add Tunein for what that's worth.
