Been using these for almost 2 years as my sole IEMs the treble got smoother and found the jvc spiral dots eartips complement the sound opens up the upper mids

U12t has better detail retrieval and will likely suit you better. The Z1R’s more of a mild V-shape that works best if you like a lot of bass and female vocals.

I’ve tried the 2020 version, but can’t speak for the older models. $560 seems like a decent price.

Yeah, M9 is worth it, probably one of my top picks under $1000. They’re all fairly balanced.

Usually, the more pronounced V-shape, the less the mediums can be heard, which is the frequency of male vocals. V shaped audio gear also tend to be less desired when it comes to classical music and jazz, or creating music where you need non accentuated sound. Overall V shapes sounds more exciting and even "neutral" or Harman target have elevated upper mids and highs. Which gives more liveliness without sounding artificial.

I insulted the fit of the Z1R at first until playing with tips and getting my perfect fit & then no more pain - or not much at all..... I’m actually selling my U12t because THEY are very uncomfortable and unfixable for my ears.. Those things have a chunky thick metal body and long weird metal insertion - That thing is taking my ears virginity every time while not having the thick organic sound of the Sony

Lol, that’s wacky. U12T are my most comfortable IEM, I can keep them in for 5+ hours easily. Just goes to show how unique fit is to the individual! 🤷‍♂️

To me the z1r is the most uncomfortable iem i have ever had and the u12t is the most comfortable for me. But yeah the z1r bass hit like no other.
