Definitely. I have a switch, xbox one, & a small 3ds collection. . I've been on pc for the past 17 years since I was 13. Most of the games i played required online connection, had drm, & had keys that made the discs pretty much useless & you couldn't sell them. ^ Didn't really get a choice when I came into it. Console gaming is finally experiencing what pc's experienced many years ago.

I have a friend that works in retail, they recently had quite a few pre-orders of the PS5 Pro. That said, more than 90% of the orders also bought the disc-drive. This is in Norway, but it's still an indicator that most of us want the option to buy physical media in the years to come.

You don’t need the stand they are selling separately, the base ps5 didn’t come with it either. It comes with the same black stand that lets you put the console on its side. I love these guys but they’re deff out the loop when it comes to modern gaming.

The ps5 pro is so you don’t have to decide between fidelity mode and performance mode, you get the better graphics and the 60 fps. The problem was they were showing ps4 games instead of newer games like FF7 rebirth , dragons dogma 2 etc.

8:45 I love the reference here to Pirate Software. I recently started going through a bunch of his videos and podcast appearances. He seems like a genuinely great person, very smart, personable, and actually cares about the gaming industry. He used to work for Blizzard (as did his father), and he also developed Heartbound, which is a game I need to try out. He streams everyday and shows people how to develop and perform maintenance on a game throughout the whole process. It's really good stuff.

The bad thing about what Sony is doing, is they are setting a bad precedent. It is bad enough that we're quickly moving into an all digital future, but I am afraid that even at a minimum $700 entry to the PS5 Pro fold it will still sell well. If you do not own a PS5 yet, fine. But for those who just want to flex, and there are a lot of people out there who do, they are plenty enough to sell maybe a few million PS5 Pros. I hope I am wrong and seriously hope the Pro fails because what that means is the next gen will cost $700 minimum. Nintendo may be the last bastion of console gaming. Even if they offer the Switch 2 for $500, which I doubt they will, you can trust that they will delilver an affordable console and support it with games. I have faith that they take their reputation as a premier video game maker seriously to not be distracted from giving us games.

The Tokyo studio is being closed alongside Texas-based Arkane Austin and Canadian developer Alpha Dog Studios. Thats not good. Further more you guys are making it sound like Sony is heading the push with all digital when MS has the series s console AND they have been pushing access to Game Pass without a console. All you need is a smart device and recently announced making Game Pass accessible with an Amazon Fire Stick. MS is very quietly pulling physical games off the shelves from local GameStops and have been pushing for digital so they don't have to give Sony $ for using Blu Ray discs when pressing physical games. Its sad to say and like it or not we are headed for an all digital future so get your physical games while you can. GameStop employees have been telling its customers that if you want a physical copy, you HAVE TO pre order the game. Companies whether its Sony, Nintendo, or MS will only send copies of games that have been pre ordered and not a lot of extras

I think Playstation should concentrate on the games, but they could also give you PSN "cash" to buy digital games. Say each time you Platinum a game, you get 5 dollars in digital credit. I'm not sure any other company does that, but I think it would help people want to play all the games on the store.

Interesting price point and commentary regarding such. I remember 20 years ago we were looking at at least £/€/$1000 for a semi decent PC. I understand economies of scale, flooded markets etc but think the console market has actually been cheap for the past few years (don't @me). This new machine is likely to put some PC equivalents into the shade. My concern is physical disc departing ( just like music CDs), widening the multi purchase within families rather than selling on, sharing within. Gone will be those lovely collections of the future

I'm not really bothered by an all digital future. It sucks, but I've been on pc for 17 years now. When I got into pc... it was transitioning to all digital with companies putting drm, key codes, & online only features that made the discs useless and unable to sell. Consoles have been dead to me since the wii u released being a dissapointment. Honestly, the best thing that has happened this generations is sony is porting their games to pc since 2023. It's pretty much over for physical media as we know it I've never been a hardcore collector of games. I've been stocking up on Nintendo switch, 3ds, ds, a few gamecube, wii, & a few og xbox, 360, & X one games & 4k movies for the past 5-6 years. So I'm basically set.

I've heard rumors that Microsoft have been considering not doing another Xbox as a piece of hardware, but instead going the route of the Xbox name being just Xbox Live as a subscription service. For years now it's been rumored that Xbox Live would be coming to the Switch, streaming the games to the system. As is, I believe you can play Xbox Live games on PC and even phones. Nintendo seems to be in most homes, AFAIK. People with Xbox or a Playstation system tend to also have a Switch. Not always, but a lot of cases it happens. I would never buy a digital-only console. The collector in me just won't let it happen. That said though, I do understand from the standpoint of nature, it would be better for the world if we ditched physical media. Too many plastics + transporting them around the world.

This is a great video to show that experts in one field (retro video game store owners) are not experts in EVERY field related to gaming. Sony is not desperate in the least. They will be absolutely fine selling this PS5 Pro. I assure you it will be sold out in stores for a long time. Video games as an industry made $184 billion in 2023. Console gaming is only 29% of that. That means a minimum of 71% of all gaming is DIGITAL. Console gaming is a niche.

I spend more money on retro games than i do on modern consoles. I do not even have a ps5 or a series x, because they do not interest me. Even less at $500 - $600 bucks. Consoles should not bet more than 300 - 400 bucks. You do not need to release a multi million dollar AAA game to get people interested on games... Look what Nintendo is doing, we need games that are fun, not better graphics and definitely not re releases of games that we played 2 years ago.

First of all, they keep pushing out new consoles without any real reason. New consoles used to come with technological advances. The leap from ps2/Xbox to ps3/360 was phenomenal even from ps3/360 to ps4/one was justified. NOW..seriously, it’s just a money grab. Horrible. I have a ps5 and I did not even take it out of the box. Still using my ps4.

"When did microsoft have a good game" Age of Empires 2: Defintive Editoon - 2019 (It is a remaster, but they put out a bunch of great dlc with it) Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition - 2020 (Same) Age of Empires 4 - new game 2021 (Talk about a slam dunk full of hype ^) Diablo 4 - 2023 + new expansion this year (Not the best in the franchises, but it's good) WoW's War Within - new expansion 2024 Age of Mythology Retold: -2024 (Remade, but brought back from the dead.. classic game) Forza Horizon 5 - 2021 Psychonauts 2 - 2021 Senua's Hellsblade 2 - 2024 Ori Will of the Wisps - 2020 ^ all within the past 5 years... not including a bunch of other titles they announced that are coming Question: What games has Sony released that are first party exclusives in the past 5 years? A: All I've seen is them do pretty much port their entire exclusive library over to pc with more to come soon & are now releasing a lego version of one of their exclusive ip's on Nintendo. ^ great for us pc players, but it's depressing knowing that ps5 players aren't really getting anything from Sony as far as new games. ^ Like I would be genuinely mad if I bought a ps5 knowing they ain't really putting out anything new. ^ It's how I feel about Xbox Series X, but their leadership has been questionable as fuck when handling new releases like wtf is going on with them. The PS5 slim and pro, when a new disc drive is added, it is locked to that console and you can't take it off and sell, pass on to a friend etc. Silent hill 2 remake was released today, make some new original games.
