I am extremly happy that Sony jumps into the PC Peripheral market. Since my childhood the brand Sony always screamed Quality to me, and whenever I can I prefer to buy Sony products. My 30 year old Sony CRT (which is older than me lol) still works perfectly. Paying a premium for Sony products has always payed off in my experience and I literally never had a Sony product failing on me. Great stuff.

@@goblinphreak2132 nah bro. This monitor is actually solid. If you are looking for a 4k 144hz REAL HDR monitor below 1 grand, this is pretty much the only option. Most monitors have HDR certifications without actual HDR hardware such as local dimming zones, and this one does. Which is what I meant by real hdr. @@Schtiel you're looking at rise/fall times. Not full pixel response. 13ms average in normal mode and 10ms average in fast mode. Stop looking at the smaller numbers and pretending its good. That information is literally given to confuse people, people like you. Reviewers need to stop lying to potential customers. But they cant stop lying because of the contracts they hold with manufacturers. They get the monitor, FOR FREE, and even get to keep it, as long as they give a "favorable review". Dont believe me? Look at HWU video for the razor monitor. They paid for it themselves and they shit all over it. Meamwhile there are monitors they have reviewed with similar specs and gave them a positive twist due to their contract for review. Aka they got the second example for free.

This sounds exactly like what I've been after. I exist in what I imagine is a very small group where for extended sessions I prefer to play my console at a desk with a monitor (I had to do this when I was younger so I've basically just gotten use to it). One thing I do find with a lot of gaming monitors though is that colour's aren't always amazing - which is why I'm using a monitor currently that's aimed more at designers. Hopefully this is a good mix of gaming features, but also good image quality like a high end TV?

Sometimes I feel like Sony is holding on to the old days of consoles where things were more locked in when talking about resolution and FPS. But I believe this is the start of change, well this along with them slowly drip feeding previously Playstation exclusive IPs into the PC market. They probably realize that by this point the next playstation generation has to be a genuine PC competitor, which the PS5 is for sure more than anything has been in the past but I wouldn't be surprised if Sony introduced an entire desktop interface to the Playstation brand either with the PS5 pro or with the PS6. Something akin to Samsung Dex, or the Steam Deck. The ability to switch between console and desktop mode, along with having an entire lineup of PC peripherals would make them 100% a competitor to PC.

It definitely decent! I was impressed. I mean it's not going to be as good as a Macbook Pro with a mini led display. But out of all the gaming monitors I've tested recently it does well!

I was really disappointed that neither console supported non-16:9 outputs. As someone who mainly plays games and watches movies for entertainment, the 21:9 is better in most cases for both. However, you end up with side letter boxing for 16:9 content and double letterboxing if that 16:9 source is showing 21:9 content (eg. A cutscene in a game) that looks atrocious

If you want to have a monitor AND want to have HDR then get the Sony for sure. If you only want to play in SDR the Gigabyte M32U is good for the PS5 too.

I just got this monitor and the colors are washed out. The monitor locks you at one video preset when connected to the PS5. You have to turn off HDR from the PS5 settings to be able to change the presets on the monitor. Also the whole point of this monitor was to play at 4K 120fps with VRR and HDR and it played terrible. I found myself forcing the PS5 to 1080p resolution in order to experience smooth fluid motion. While at 4K 120 my character’s movement felt sluggish. I am also experiencing flickering in really bright images. I will be getting the LG 27GP950B which has similar specs to see if this is a common thing while playing in 4K 120. I was hoping to love this monitor especially with the 96 zones full array local dimming. But I can’t find anything good to say. Also the stand really sucks. If you move your hands at your gaming table the monitor will be shaking for about 30 seconds. This can be terrible when playing competitively online.

Chances are, Sony will release a M7 model that will be 1440p and sit in a middle price point. Just like the headsets, (H3, H7, H9) there will most likely be a third monitor as well. And that is because rumors already suggest that the 1440p update for the PS5 is on the way. Therefore, I could see them completing the lineup with a 1440p monitor to give them the M3, M7, M9 lineup of monitors. Plus during the presentation, they said this was just the beginning and they have more products to be announced in the future. I would assume, another monitor is part of that. Besides, if they are truly trying to get into the gaming space, a 1440p monitor is the sweet spot. I just think they are waiting to announce it until the update is ready for the PS5 so they coincide together. We will have to wait and see, but that would be my guess.

I like Sony, but for 899 that stand feels a bit cheap. I am still laughing with how everyone places their monitors on a stand or something. I must be the shortest person in youtubeland as to have the monitor at eye level (about 3/4 of the screen at eye level) I have to not only not use any stand for my monitors (27" right now), but also have my "standing desk" at the lowest setting.

There is the M3 but 1080p on 27inch doesn't look too good. I'd only go up to 25inches for 1080P. 27inch QHD is the sweet spot.

@@MatthewMoniz This is my main issue with this monitor tbh, I think to get the most out of 4k, you should be at 32" or above. 1440p at 32" is actually the same ppi as 1080p 24", so it looks perfectly good already.

@@TheEPICskwock yeah i know, i hv my ps5 for 2 years now played it on my 65 inch tv before Samsung tu 8000, its a VA panel for the 1st year . Then brought it into my office, plugged it in to an Asus Vg27aqL1a, an IPS panel. Benefit of playing it on a table for me is that i cn sit comfortably in an ikea office chair. IPS is more colour accurate, looks better than va panel and at 27 inch , less than 1m distance away, still looks sharp. I zoom in on fifa's football in replays and see no difference. The xbox series X supports 1440p resolution. Benefit of 1440p versus 4k is that, the GPU can be tasked for other things rather than pushing pixels. better shadows, less pop up textures and maybe even ray tracing at 60 fps. GT7 has frame drops during replays if it involves lots of assets at different lighting conditions. And texture pop ups during races. Meaning thr console is pushed to its limits already. Ive had frame drops during FF7 remake boss battle too , just that one boss battle ( vs reno and rude - hard mode, too many things happening on screen ) It would be nice if the Inzone line releases a 2k display along with official support for 2k for ps5. Because anybody who wishes to plug in a gaming cpu to it as well doesn't hv to splurge on a 3080 and above to get best picture quality at 4k. PS5 pro would be a true 4k machine with no frame drops and ray tracing hopefully at 60fps.

In my opinion the 1440p monitor space already has enough competition and 4K monitors need more competition. Also i use my displays for movies more then gaming, so thats why all my screens are 4K. Most movies are either 1080p or 4k there isnt really 1440p movies. (Except netflix it supports 1440p i believe.) I have a 4k monitor and i dont have any issues running games off of it, although yes i do have an rtx 3090. I guess from my point of view if you have a 3090 you might as well skip 1440p and just go 4K.

I would love to know what the additional per unit cost would be for 60W PD. I'm shocked more monitors don't offer it because just about everyone I know who uses a laptop professionally likes to plug into their monitor at home. I use the last gen Razer Raptor 27 only because of their USB-C power delivery...which I think they got rid of in their most recent refresh. If I could find one that has better text clarity than the Raptor, I'd buy it in a second.

Need 27in 1440p 240hz. And with the new alienware qd oled out and vizio and asus making 4k mini leds.... idk. This monitor feels a little dated already. Plus if someone is spending $900 on a Sony monitor for their probably ~$700 ps5. I have to question why not just get a full on gaming pc. Great review though. Glad to see more competition in the space either way.

4K on 27 inch is lower ppi than apple studio display. Text is already a bit compromised. They should have just ditched the 1k option and go for 2k though

This to me is the same spot as the Samsung m8 monitor those who have dorm or apartment life but for people that has multiple room setups like a dedicated gaming room or a house that they could fit a bigger desk I think the better thing will be the C2 LG for a monitor since it's OLED because people that generally give a flying crap about hurts and whatever for PC would buy a super dedicated monitor for competition this is more of a lifestyle monitor to have your Xbox PlayStation and PC in an apartment

900 no thanks with what's out there at the moment it's too much money it's not entirely designed for ps5 with the PC stuff on it so in my eyes it's just a jip with another 200 dollar or pounds where I am 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 you could get a 55 inch LG C1 oled

If this was a glossy screen I'd buy it in a second. I guess I'm still stuck having to purchase a 42 oled for a monitor cause I'm never going back to matte after having a oled TV again.
