Hello Zeos i dont know if you read this comment or not but you got to try Sony MH755. It is a cheap iems with a shitty I'll mean shiiiity wire but the sound at least for me as close as the kph30i. Hey Z, how do these compare to the MDR-7506? Are they comparable or ballpark difference?
@JM-lb4oj3 жыл бұрын
The history behind these headphones show why they come in a cereal bag and a craptastic cardboard box. They aren't meant to be sold to the general public. They are designed from the ground up for studio engineers and TV broadcast staff. Industrial! They have no warranty. They are FULLY rebuildable. They took 3 years to develop due to the suuuuuper strict requirements Sony put on them - i.e. if the person who recorded their voice was 30 centimeters behind the microphone, the headphones HAD to reproduce EXACTLY that placement. Oh, and they aren't made by Sony Consumer Electronics like all their other headphones but rather by Sony Music - like the record company.

The plot thickens and I have returned with my thoughts on this headphone. I couldn't bear the default pads for more than an hour at a time before it started hurting my ears. Fortunately I got the yaxi pads the day after and that made all the difference. After quite a bit of listening I realized something. These headphones are MADE for Japanese music (especially for their era). I'm talking 70s and 80s Japanese pop and rock famalam. I have yet to enjoy those genres more on any other pair of headphones I own. If you think you'd be into that then by all means grab these headphones and embrace the retro weeb within (oh and don't forget the pads because these hurt like a mofo after a while lol). Now, I will return to my yacht rock and 80s Japanese pop. Stay safe and healthy all 230 of you who read all this lol I love you all.

I'd say they're back in their golden era. The IER-M9, IER-Z1R, MDR-Z1R, MDR-Z7 and MDR-Z7M2 are all fantastic headphones/IEMs. The IER-M9 shits all over anything Campfire Audio has in the same price range. Matter of fact it shits all over anything in the price range. People sleep on Sony cause they're a mainstream brand but that also means they have endless money, which is reason why they're one of the only IEM makers who developed their own BA drivers in house. Even botique IEM makers like 64Audio just buy off the shelf BA drivers from Knowles, give em a tune, pop em in a shell and charge over 2 grand....Campfire Audio also uses off the shelf BA drivers

Speaking of pads....doing a pad change of my SendyAudio Aiva turned it into an LCD2C with treble detail (LCDX?). I put some Brainwavz XL Hybrid pads on it and it transformed it into something really special. The LCD2C reaches down lower and is still more impactful, but the Aiva with these pads ins't nearly as far behind anymore, they widened the soundstage quite a bit and completely transformed the bass response into something way more fun. I recommnend anyone who bought an Aiva on Zeos' recommendation to try these pads ASAP!

I put those Yaxis on a brand new pair of MDR 7506 and they are amazing. The foam between your ear and the driver is gone, but they take your ear just a liiiittle bit farther away too, so it's just a hair more on the treble end, and adds a wee bit more to the soundstage. Fucking gold. If you have the 7506, I definitely recommend the Yaxis. It takes the center just off of your ear too, whereas the stock pads basically allow the center foam to sit right on your ear.

I have done internal mods to them as well with some foam and polyfill etc and also did a cable replacement and made them balanced. They are already better than stock but there is still to much bass, which is why I chose the stpad2, looks like it will reduce bass and open up the soundstage. I won't receive the pads until the middle of next month if anyone's interested, that's the only downside to yaxi pads, they take a while to ship to the US but they are worth the wait. Can you please review the Sony MDR 1AM2?

Hey Zeos, now you need to get an original V6 manufactured in the 80's and compare. Still have mine, paid $72. An oldie but goody, foldable, sound great with my Sony D-555.

I didn't know you were in Philly, you do have that Philly fuckin voice. Im near King of Prussia. I've always been a fan of Sony headphones. I have some MDR v6's. Keep up the good shit! I feel the same way with paradigm speakers as far as waiting for the next track. Just sound fucking great.

Zeos, if someone has something shipped to you and it sucks, then that's where the rubber meets the road AFAIC. About a thousand forum 'gurus' out there who will decry virtually everyone on YT as a shill because there are so few negative reviews - you've done a few and they are invariably my favorite reviews on this channel. If someone asked you to take their car to the dragstrip and the differential and both rear axles imploded the first time you lit up the tyres, is that really on you ? ;)

Z, clarify this for everyone. What's most important to you? Sound or comfort? it's one or the other, not both.

If it sound bad, no point putting it on your head in the first place. If it's uncomfortable you don't want to wear it too long ...

Will you review the R11 conquest? Indian electrostats. Comparable to the L700 at 500$.

Got to be honest, these look so much better with colour matched pads. With just the stickers, they stick out like a sore thumb.

Zeos, with the plug, is it one of those that has a 1/4" plug sleeve that can be unscrewed off, leaving a 3.5mm plug?

No.

I got these based on this review. I love the sound of the CD900st. But not a fan of these YAXI pads. Maybe my ears are larger than Zeos's but I need something deeper and with more circumference. Everything touches and becomes sore after 30 min.

I just sold my Fostex t50rp mk3. I kept my Shure 1540 pads. Now I can buy the Ergo 2 helmetphones.

I love this. Vintage (late 80's / early 90's) Japanese studio monitors are awesome. Please don't get the Sony MDR-M1ST ... all the stuff I've read about them is pretty bad. I've seen an FR graph too... 'twas not pretty at all. That money is better spent elsewhere for sure.
