My volume dial has gone bad (it's just a dirty potentiometer). I wonder how difficult it would be to replace the potentiometer with a new one, or what part number it is 🤔

Hello very interesting this little electronic DIY on a hi-fi system you have to remain philosophical when you do this kind of DIY...I have a question for you I have almost the same model (Sony DHC MD 333) and the CD player skips reading when it reads CDs. Do you think it could be adjusted in the same way with a little adjustment with a screwdriver? H have this unit. Is it easy to get to the mini disc lens just by opening the case ?.also do u clean the record head with the same cotton swab ?

Did you clean the laser and try the lasercalibrationscrew? Have the same unit cleaned the laser several times, turned the calibrationscrew back and forth and up a little and the unit plays all my cd’s flawlessly for months now…

how you measure the result of the "calibration screw" and what you using as reference disc? weakbit

@@weakbit633 well I did not really calibrate think it was a bad contact in the calibrationscrew and I just tried the cd's I have it worked it still plays all my cd's until now.

I get this machine with a changed Laser-Pickup but this are new old stock (it could be defect during long time in the stock) and the lens was not dirty in any kind. It read sometimes good and sometimes not - what can that be that is so abrupt? Any ideas? weakbit

the answer is simple if the KSS-213B not working take the KSS-213C! I get this other Laser-Pickup next week then we will see. Thank you for answering weakbit

You never cleaned the objective lens? Or even look to see if it was dirty?

at this case it was a new Laser-Pickup that I get - but some of the new old stock Laser-Pickup are defect in that way that they are so long on stock and then they fail. It was not a optical problem it seams to be sometimes the data will not received. But I don't know what that for a failure is? any ideas? weakbit

@@mdzacharias Yes I'm sorry I get this machine and I do not installed the new-one Laser-Pickup but my pre-analyst partner make this change so I don't mentioned it in case of that I get this information after the Video came out - so sorry! It is for me difficult to tell all that what happened before in case of time in the Videos. I understand your answer well. All the best I'm sorry for that inconvenience. weakbit

Hi there. You should always clean lens first before do anything else. I check some of your videos and you almost never clean the lens.

Hello and I'm sorry that I don't told anyone that all of this CD-Players are be first in a service-lab and there the laser-pickup are changed an all of this players! 95% of the machine what you see here are get a new laser-pickup first till I get the machine on my bench. I'm sorry to tell this but I only show the electronic repair and other mechanical issues. You have right to mentioned this lens cleaning should be but I do not show you unpacking videos, PCB board cleaning videos and not lens cleaning. My viewers are know well that they should clean there lens if it is need. But thank you I don't mentioned this never that all of this CD-Players are first precast before I get one on my kitchen-table. I remember back in one of the old CD-Players I mentioned that I using spit for the lens cleaning an no alcohol that is bad for the lens and further I said that the lens is most from inside dirty and from the smoke of the cigarettes. But you bring a very good idea for the video! I make a information about the lens cleaning like how you clean it and what for a cleaner you should use etc. - serious!
