Sony Pictures currently houses the division's film studios, such as: Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, and Screen Gems
For me, the tour was personal, because I have worked in the entertainment Industry my entire life, so I just loved being surrounded by it.
So , if you are visiting the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend visiting the studios, it's amazing to walk the streets where so much of Hollywood's history has taken place.

@arulcastro5013 yeh, the history is amazing, and I gave the very skimmed over simplified version, but I really enjoyed being there. My friend was the casting director @ MGM Studios for a very long time, until they stopped producing movies. I had actually asked him first, if the tour was worth the visit, and he encouraged me to go.

Sony is in Culver City not Los Angeles. They’re separate cities. Back in the mid-60’s we lived down the street from MGM when there were huge lots of. As kids we were able to sneak into lot 2 that was bordered on the east by Overland and the west by Elenda street. Such fun until we were caught by the security guards.

@@hollycaputowanderlust - If I remember correctly, the guy that I work for owned the Culver City Hotel. At the time it wasn’t being occupied as an active hotel so, he rented out the first floor to another business and we were on the third floor. He ran a film distribution company and sold rights to foreign broadcasters. I remember going on exploratory mission of the upper levels of the hotel and it was basically frozen in time and all the old furniture was still in the rooms. It looked like a time-capsule from the 40s or 50s. I have to admit that it was very spooky and unnerving.
