I actually saw one of these made up with rosewood wood grain paneling on the sides with aluminum and clear CD lid and thin brown felt in the CD bay. It actually looked good and didn't resemble a PSX system at all. He also had a remote IR built in.

Is it even a playstation left in there? The playstation boot sound didn't play. The audio connectors are at the wrong positions etc.

Inside is ok. I overrode boot sound, and i replaced all the audio connectors with better ones. So playstation in its core. If you turn on tv, and insert the game. You pop out front plate and connect joypad you can play all ps games :)

Whats the point of an audiophile playstation for tens of thousands of dollars if the cd quality is only 192kbps lol. You get 320kbps (better) out of a simple mp3

May because it's true. Take out the components that aren't needed in the signal path, put a linear PSU on it, bypass the op-amp and build your own valve one and you have CDP that's amazing. I'm only part way through my modding and it already far outstrips and CD player I've tried. In a head to head at an audio show recently, it kicked a £10k cd player's arse.

Is not a mith because way before internet I used to have one conected to my stereo, and the cd sound was kida diferrent than the cd player of that stereo, decades later I found the tale of the audiophile playstation, so im not the one who noticed it.
