Those SCPH-1001 models unfortunately have disc drives that wear out easily, due to their proximity to the power supply, and how the laser sled is made from plastic, which leads to issues with skipping during FMV sequences and audio streaming, so watch out for that.

I had the same experience with Audion 300 b amp , Heresey II and PS1 other cd player wad marantz cd 94 which i sold after hearing PS1.

Bought a used one from eBay and love it so far. BTW do you know if the seller still has wireless controller?

Oh man, I should have asked if he still has one before I bought mine. Well, I'll use what I have. You can actually detach the controller from the console once it starts playing.

You can also use the wireless remote made for the PS2. It works in a limited capacity on the PS1, for play, pause, next track etc..

The remote is a regular PlayStation wireless controller. I’ll try and find the seller.

Just use a PS2 tv style remote and dongle. Works perfectly

BTW, I should mention that the noise floor was extremely quiet as well as the mechanics CD rotation. All were extremely quiet so my guess is that whatever the measurements were are not audible, at least to my ears.

What is different with the SCPH-1001? The RCA ports out doesn't sound any different then the multi-AV port out so I am curious how do the other PS1 models sounds that don't have the RCA ports and only a multi-AV port?

The dac chip on the 1001 is different than the other models.

Just make sure both video ports are not connected to any video devices.

2 of my 3 main hobbies, music and games, i am very familiarized with the ps1 but i discovered this characteristic of being a good cd player not that long ago a tip for pepole not familiarized with the controls or a gamepad, there is a remote control for ps2 used to control the DVD player function of that console that works with the ps1 aswell, maybe some pepole find it easier to use, or more confortable than a gamepad kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXXQinmZr5eob8U&ab_channel=CaptainBlackBread

@@drde4010 It depends what amps is used with i guess.I have Yamaha MX-1 class a power amp with NAD1155 preamp.Trebble is bit harsh with that PS1.I see you have tube amplifiers there.I guess that's why it sounds soft with your system...Try headphone output of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5!
