Sony RX100 Original worth it now?

Great camera. I picked a Mk1 up about 1 year ago - it's fantastic, even for video. For the average Joe and hobby snapper, it has all the functions you need (and more). The RAW capability is great, but I shoot jpg as I can't tell the difference and being honest most people viewing images on Instagram, Facebook etc can't either. I also own two other Sony cameras - A6000 and A6500 but being honest, I use my RX100 90% of the time for my hobby. Thoroughly recommend.

I use the mk1 for street photography shooting RAW and post processing to B&W. You can set the screen to B&W so it’s easier to see focus peaking but it’s easiest to use zone focus and average exposure values. The small form means you can snap unobtrusively so less hassle. Video is really good too. I use tiny wind muffs on the mics to stop wind noise in video.

Still got this and use it in 2021. As mentioned can be slippery to grip but I like to have it in my pocket additionally to use alongside my DSLR. I didn’t use it as much as I should have the first year it came out. But it’s still here and working for me!

I own an RX100 mk1 for about 4 years now. And love it. It's my EDC camera. I have a Canon 5DIII as main camera, a Fujifilm X-Pro 1 as all day long carry camera, and I just needed a pocket camera that I can always wear with me (and I wanted something more than a mobile phone cam). And that's the RX100. Not the most modern camera's, but they are all very good, and they can do what I want. So why buy the latest innovations of them? RX100 mk1 in 2022? Still great!

Still using this beast. Photos looks great. Video is not good by today’s standards. You still can get good videos in ideal condition. Notice the dynamic range in shooting videos is very poor compared to smartphones.

I bought the model 1 because B&H in NYC somehow got hold of a batch available in Nov.2020. Price was good, too. Still exploring it. I need to learn to assign set-ups to the Fn button. Have been very happy for stills though no articulating back.

nice but after watching the footage Im glad I got the Sony ZV-1F and its got great stabilization plus awesom pictures and I have amazing photos of a waterfall shot in shutter priority speed at 40

You could but it doesn't have a flip-up screen. Mark III should be better for your need.

Great travel camera, but horrible for outside. I just came from Israel, and it was too difficult to use it when the sun is blazing, no way to frame an image, even when trying to block out the sun with your hand. Better to use a camera with a viewfinder. For this reason alone, I am getting rid of this great camera. Definitely not an outdoor camera unless it's cloudy or overcast.

Yes I agree it wouldn't be suitable in a very sunny condition. Some of the newer versions have viewfinders

You never touched the power button to make it start? Or did you cut that part out? So this means that it actually takes several seconds for the camera to start? That does not cut it for me in 2020 sadly. For an old man only keeping it in a camera bag all year around, only taking it out to snap a family photo on the vacation it will surely be enough, but not for a daily snapper wanting to catch "the moment".

@@fotolookconde No prob I just got an rx100V recently and am loving it I'm getting the magfilter with a 10 stop ND for long exposure shots, it should be dope... Also you might want to check out joby micro tripod on amazon it's light this super tiny tripod that folds away underneath the camera it's like a little ninja you forget it's on there haha. If you do look it up there at a new version that comes with a phone mount, just get it, take off the phone mount and attach it to your camera and you're set!

Hi. Instead of the Sticker adaptor, there is an "UX-Tube". It is a more safety way. And other than Filter or Converter, you can attach the lens hood. If you can have a try on it, plesae leave me a message, I will send you a set of UX-Tube and Wide Converter.

So many features, but even with an aftermarket, or Sony, grip the handling is marginal. Sony always seem to somehow reveal their roots as being in consumer elecronics rather than photography.

If you have the elgato cam link then it should work with OBS.

The original RX100 has HDMI out, but it's not clean. There's a few display features you cannot disable, plus a small top and bottom focussing mark. If your streaming software (eg OBS) or hardware (eg ATEM mini) supports cropping and software zoom then you can use it for HD streaming. I've used mine for live streaming at church and it still has a better looking image than our 4k camcorder does. Also the HDMI port is right next to the tripod mount so you need to be creative getting the signal from the camera - I made a LEGO mount
