Great video and I just wanted to say thanks for the tip about putting the camera power button side first in the lowepro case, I have one and always thought it was a bit snug but it fits so much better that way.

Ordered this case for an RX100 M4. I was hesitant because of the size but it's a case of weighing up the odds, it's an RX100, you buy them to travel small and light. Amazingly, I can get the RX100 with a Joby Micro 250 attached AND a spare battery into this case! The battery needs to drop in to the bottom before you insert the camera, the Micro 250 needs to be flush with the camera base and the camera needs to be inserted with the control buttons towards the top of the case. I doubt this would be possible with the additional camera grip (AG-R2) installed . I also have an additional paracord wrist strap by Cordweaver, this stays outside and wraps over the the case, this makes it very easy to pull the camera out via the strap rather than fumbling around trying to grab the camera with your fingers. Bear in mind too, these cases give a little over time, while this won't allow you to fit in more than I've mentioned above, it may all become a little looser.

I have the same camera and lowpro. I realize that u get a better/looser fit when u place the right side in first, the side where ur strap is attached it. It fits perfect that way because the lens is nearer to the opening which has a little more space than the inside, easier to take out as well. The strap is still long enough to extend out of the case. I have a problem with the strap though... its opening is simply too huge, little sense of security feel like it can loop out of your wrists easily.

Can you demo manual focus/zoom control while filming? Maybe get a closeup of something and then just focus on something else - is that possible with the camera? Same for the zoom - can you really slowly zoom onto an object or are the controls not giving you that option?

Haha I'm watching this mid 2019 as I just ordered the RX100iii - very late to the party. Crazily the Lowepro Dashpoint is now $30 AUD at best and the battery charger is $79!!! Crazy! In the future everything is even more expensive! I hope the camera at least wasn't more expensive still lol.

@Zoe Zed I haven't got it yet to try, but from what I read, yes you can charge it via usb such as a power bank, but it cannot be powered or charged while the camera is on.

Thank you for the video - Just got the RX100M3 and the LOWEPRO DASHPOINT 10. The case is well built but WILL NOT FIT THE CAMERA COMFORTABLY. It is way too snug and have no place for extra battery. For the price I believe not to be a good recommendation.

Thanks for this. I just got Panasonic TZ90/ZS70 which is about same size (bit taller). This info confirms that Dashpoint 20 is right way to go while being maybe tad big. Rather have easier handling than smaller case.

I want to record XAVC S footage, as I read in another post from you is necessary a 64GB memory card, do you know if a 30 Mb/s speed is enough? I am newbie on this field! 64GB will be more than enough, but I think I would make sure the card you are using is at least UHS-1 compliant.

***** hi! I want to buy rx100III, I saw video tests from "RX100" that shows overheating problems. After 50 min of recording, the camera is overheated and stops recording for a while. If i use additional battery, will it help the camera to feel cool and continue recording? Or maybe RX100III don't have this problem?

I would NOT recommend Lowepro Dashpoint 10, because of the small internal size of that pouch: 6.5 x 3.5 x 11.8 cm. The RX100M3 is 5,8 x 4,1 x 10,2 cm. The Lowepro Dashpoint 20 has an internal size of 8.5 x 3.5 x 14 cm. That would give you also extra space for a spare battery and other stuff.

Do you realize you can use your external battery pack to charge the RX100 directly and do it while you're using the camera?... you can also plug the camera into just about any powered USB and it will charge your camera?

If you feel like you can carry around anything with you all day, then the A6000 is of course going to be better - especially if you are taking quick candid shots, since the A6000's autofocus is stellar. But The RX100M3 packs so much stuff into a tiny package and is extremely versatile. For street / portrait photography it's nice because the versatile focal length and because it simply is a tinier camera, people will stare at it less. It's hard to say since they both have so many strengths, but I bought the RX100 III precisely because I didn't feel like I could carry around the A6000 with me every day and take random shots.

How's the Dashpoint 10 working out for ya? I'm hoping to find something that's not too snug for easy one-handed removal from my belt. The Geneva 30 looks like a good fit but it's bulky...

It's really great! I mean the only thing I wish was that instead of a zipper it was a latch to pop open the top to get the camera out, since that's faster. But with the camera on my hip I can take so many more photos. EDIT: It can be a bit snug but I still haven't found any better alternatives. Holler if you do!

Ah, thanks! My M3 arrived yesterday so I'm planning to go on a crawl today trying out cases. I was liking the idea of a zipper over velcro but you're right, a clip would be better still. I'll surely report back if I find anything interesting. Thanks for covering this camera, you've put up some helpful and high quality content :) Edit: Radio Rentals had a Tahoe 30 on clearance for $10. I didn't find anything better so I picked it up. It's good; snug when closed but opens wide enough that it's pretty easy to get the M3 in and out. The zipper could be slightly smoother around the "corners". I doubt it's worth switching from the Dashpoint, I don't think it's perfect but I'm happy with it as a starter pouch. I don't think I'd try to fit a battery in the front pocket.
