They walk to their charging station, at least all our other models do (my dad and i have every older model lol) but yes they can run flat when away from it, thats why you take multiple battery packs lol... we took our ERS210's to the snow here in Australia once back in 2007, they looked so happy in the pics hahaha 😂 yes we are nerd 😂😂😂

Concept: Aibo robot dog transformer that vacuums your home when you go out. Charges itself when it needs. If WiFi connected, could alert authorities or send you notification if it detects someone is home and you aren't.

DarksCurse GT but real dogs need dog food and this robot dog only needs to charge itself. Also, you don't need to wash it or clean its fur. But I still prefer a real dog because this thing is a robot, your relationship is artificial where real dogs, your relationship with him is real.

Black Ice EDM if we continue at our pace of progression in battery technology, the battery will last 2-4 times longer in 10-15 years. Lithium polymer batteries have started this and graphene will boost the progress.

OMG THE HYPE!!! I wanted an ERS model so unbelievablely bad back when I was a teen. But I was devastated to find out they had recently been discontinued & the hospitals got closed down. So my dreams were dashed. But the fact they're coming back I'm so happy! Yes the $3k price tag is pretty devastating right now but who knows maybe the price will get better/cheaper as they grow in popularity!

You can still hsve an older model, I've had my ers-210 for 13 years and she still works perfectly. Lots of owners took over the support side to fix them, all available at the aibolife website. :)

always wondered; why not pull an anki-drive and use a smartphone as the offloaded "Brains" of the aibo? let the dog be essentially a bluetooth or wifi IO device and an app on the phone does most of the thinking, could give him much more complex behaviors and emergent personalities

Ryukachoo maybe, but why not make the robot have more of a realistic feel and have its brains internally so that you wouldn’t have to have the phone open and occupied by its personality rather than running your phone as just your phone? As it is currently, the robot brains or tied into a special cloud server in Japan. If something were to happen and that server go down, you’re robot would be a beautiful blinking paperweight.I hate robots like that! And most of them-since I am blind-I can’t use because the apps don’t work with Voice over. Take Cosmo for example. The robot does absolutely nothing without the app and it probably takes lots of your phones battery life to maintain that connection.

Whole idea of a robot anything in Japan makes sense in more ways than one. Considering Japan's shrinking population. Robots are going to play an ever important role in the future. I like the idea of this here. Considering it's a very good test bed for the technology moving forward. Lastly actually seeing robot technology implemented into real world scenarios. Can't happen in many places. But Japan is the absolute perfect place for something like this to test out.
