Great video! I have the Zve1, I may pick up an apsc lens to use it in 1080. How did you get the ECMB1M to work with the Zv1?

You simply have to switch it to analog mode vs digital mode and it will work just fine on zv1. But it does work on digital mode for the E1.

Keeping the kit light is key. I’m going through the same thing now, want something smaller then the fx3 with 16-35gm. So I got the zv-e1 with the Sony 16-35pz f4 and the Sony 20mm 1.8. Great combo and perfect size

Absolutely. Going with these APSC lenses has been an awesome option in keeping things light and finding cheaper lenses even.

can you please try 16 mm pancake apsc lens on zve1? Also since Dynamic stabilization doesn’t work on 120fps, do you use clear zoom to crop in for that mode ?

I actually have the 15mm G lens so probably not going to get the 16mm pancake but I do love that size so maybe. In 4k120, no stabilization or CIZ can be used. I'm hearing the new A9iii might be the first Sony to have stabilization with no crop in 4k120.

this camera seems amazing but for photos its very limited, if they made a camera that had full frame and was this lightweight plus had a 24mp camera it would be a must buy, ig the a7c 2 does that but i heard at 4k 60 it crops to aps c for some reason where this dosent do that, idk why it needs to crop for 4k 60 when this can do it fine

Unless your doing long form recording productions, The ZV-E1 has it beat in many areas. But the FX30 is a solid option. Might be grabbing one myself soon.

💯, couldn’t agree more. For my family, personal, and KZbin video, this is the main camera I’ve been using. For all my paid gigs. I go between my other cameras. Having 2 slots is crucial for paid work as I have lost an SD card before. Thankfully I was using 3 cameras but it’s a scary experience when your getting paid. I would classify documentary work as long form. Again, E1 is amazing but it’s all about the right tool for the job. I just think the E1 can do the job for a lot of people overall.

@@DigiDriftZone I would only counter with the benefits of shooting native Sony lenses specifically for video. If your talking about 3rd party, the options are amazing and you’ve found some good ones from Samyang, Tamron has a good selection, and even the older Zeiss options. But going native Sony which I have done does allow better image stabilization along with taking advantage of breathing compensation. Also, better distortion control overall as the lenses are matched to the bodies better. Nice video my man

Too quick of an example change.. you were talking up the 16mm, but then switched your example to a 10mm lens explaining crop factors.. Had to go back and see what you were trying to explain for it to make sense. Maybe should have stuck to the Sigma 16mm as the example, or shown the 10-20m lens...

Not really “all the goodness of full frame Sony” when using these apsc lenses in combination with dynamic and clear image, which you have to use to get away with the vignette that occurs when doing subtle moves with camera , as I seen in some of your shots. You are sacrificing quality of image in 4K. I have done several tests as well with my lenses, I would maybe use them on steady or tripod shots only.

Your still getting the improved background separation and incredible low light ability of a full frame despite using an APSC lens so you do get most of the benefits if not all. Also, you’re not forced to use the Dynamic mode. Simply taking advantage of it means having a wider lens. As such the APSC lens just work. Using it in a tripod really is counter productive. Again, being mostly for video and having awesome hand held shots are unique to this camera. If you want a tripod setup and more bokeh, something like the A7Siii is still an amazing option.
