The 2000s were a time for innovation. Amidst console wars involving Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo and Sega, we saw interesting products like the N-Gage rise to the surface before ultimately failing and becoming largely lost in time. Other examples include Sony's Qrio, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox Kinect, And PDAs.

I think this experience was pretty much the universal experience with all y2k tech outside of really mainstream stuff. Basically everything was plagued with extreme futurism, making them insanely cool, insanely expensive, and able to run for about a week before bricking. PDA’s and MP3 players would completely die if the weather changed, let alone actually being used. Also nobody talks about how bad wiring was back then, you had all this insanely “futuristic” tech that would either be stuck on some expensive proprietary power supply that would cease function if the wire was bent more than 90 degrees, or the same shitty ac adaptor that plugged into everything else in your house, and charged about a percent a day.

Lost as in they have fallen out of mainstream use/ the relevant technology stopped being developed as it wasn’t needed anymore/ or just straight up failed out of the gate and wasn’t ever revived or kept afloat in the same way iPhones and regular consoles are today.
