Hello, while you are doing stuff, would you please care to explain things so that we can understand more. What is the DSR number on a c-30? What should it be? When you say I guess this is wrong disk, I don't see how. what is the magnet situation. one magnets?.. two magnets? or what is the correct polarity. Do we take the magnet out and put it in upside down? I am asking because I have C30's that needs heads. I also have C30's which I replaced the heads and got an upside down image on the scope. I have DSR79R heads which are actually for SL-200 with two magnets and I will be placing that in a C-30. Please explain so that we don't end up with more questions than we started. This is not a philosophy class, is it? :) thank you.

You're asking the exact same things I was asking myself when I was editing the video and you're totally correct so there will be a video coming up very shortly on the head disks and what will fit which machine. Safe to say you can ignore the DSR number a little bit. Your C30 will use the same head disk as the F1 and the F30 (plus of course the C20/C40). SL-200 heads won't work as they're dual magnets so will trigger the pickups incorrectly... Anyway, video to follow in the next couple of weeks or so which will explain it hopefully a little better!

@@MrBetaByte for sl200 head, they told me to pull one of the magnets out to use it on a c30. Would it work?

I have a similair unit the F60. But my issue is that i have no colour on playback/record. However there is colour when I display video from the Video IN. I have seen more F60s for sale with this issue. Do you have an idea what this might be?

Also there seems to be almost no picture at all when i fast forward or rewind. Yes all the heads seem to be fine under the microscope. When i hold my finger on the bottom flywheel of the drum motor and slow the drum down a bit i can see picture on ffw or rewind.

So many things can cause these issues but from your second comment I wonder if maybe you head free speed is set a little too high? Do you have a manual and access to an oscilloscope? You may well have to do some signal tracing. I have known the 4.43 crystal drift slightly which can cause all of the issues you've described.

Really is surprisingly good especially as the flat screen I'm using at the moment isn't that great.

Hey, ive got a SL-C30E, and it has a similar porblem, but the audios fine. Can you help me out?

Start from the heads and work back. Are the head chips OK? Can you see good even protrusion with no damage or chips in the head? Do the heads sound smooth when playing back? A whooshing sound could be the rotary transformers dragging (the glue starts to fail over time/ if stored in extreme heat). Do you have a scope? Have a look at the waveform from the pre-amp, what do you see? Have you cleaned the heads? What do you see when you playback?
