Yes, you can. Just tried it and under the battery widget it showed mine currently has 50% left.

The SRS-XB13 not "compatible" with Sony Music Center and you can check out which one can use this app on sony website

This speaker is rubbish...it loses connectivity every 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes you need to restart it a few times before it conencts...DO NOT BUY ONE!!!!

Sounds like you got a defective unit and should either exchange it in store or go through the RMA process.
