To turn extra bass off press the play button and the volume low button for 3+ seconds until little light goes green. When its white the bass is on

Best sound test I’ve seen of the xb21, very real world. Sounded way bassier than any other sound tests I’ve heard. Hmm makes me give it a second thought. Love the Sony design and now sound. Bought a cheaper Boss soundbox Pro based on JimsreviewRoom.

Glad you found it useful. It's really not super bassy, especially given the size. I feel it has a more balanced overall sound and can bring out the highs better than most speakers at its size.

Grant S Good word, that’s exactly what I was thinking or guessing just by stuff I’ve heard from tests online and not in person. And thinking Sony got that right seems like. Thanks for that feedback! I hope I’m not gonna hate what I got from Boss. :( Comes tomorrow.

If it's the Doss Soundbox Pro, then it's stronger in the mids and lows vs the XB21, but the Sony has clearer highs and a more balanced sound profile. To me anyway. 😉

Grant S yes the Doss Soundbox Pro. Came today and I’m VERY pleased. Incredible. My ideal would prob be a Sony XB31, but that’s almost 3x the cost of this Doss. Super happy for $45 total cost.

The light strip is useless as it just flashes in the middle at the top & bottom rather all through to the edges...last years model still sounds great to add to the lights

Right, the XB20 has a full oval light ring around the front of the speaker while the XB21, due to the new design, is around the top and bottom. Although you can still change the light mode, but unfortunately no color lighting was added.

A coworker has one. He just got it recently and it sounds pretty good, but when I hook it to my phone it will play 2 songs at full volume then suddenly cut the volume to where it’s vey low. I doesn’t seem to do that with his iPhone X. Only with my older iPhone 5S. At first we thought it was a low charge on the speaker. But the next day it did the same thing. I really want to find out what the problem is, since I was hoping to possibly buy one for myself. Any idea what could be the problem?

Not really sure, that is odd. Only difference is maybe an issue with Bluetooth 4 vs the 5 in your friend's iPhone X.

There is but one problem. Even though the Sony SRS XB21 works on Laptop PCs as well as smartphones, the Sony Music Center App only exist for smartphones, not PCs. I'm waiting Windows Store! "Til then, I'll just have to settle with the Iphone version. And before you reply, I've checked with PC download version. It won't work with this speaker.

Mine did the same, its the speaker going into power save mode and turnes down the volume, charge the battery, and also the louder its played the faster the battery is drained

Basically when the battery is super low it reduces the sound and when the battery is nearly dead it says battery low

I just bought the bose revolver plus, It had all kinds of issues. Sound cuts out . volume doesn't work well. Just boxed it back up to return it. :( i will look into this one if its not tinny sounding. Tx

Go Sony. Stay away from its competitor JBL flip 4. I bought the Flip 4 n it was trash. Returned it for the Sony. JBL Charge 4 is trash ass mono too. Go Sony my friends.
