I just purchased one over the w/end and while I like it for certain music, for classical, there’s just too much bass, and an obvious lack of balance between the mids & highs. I don’t mind adding to the speaker with additional Sony speakers if helps to balance sound, but not sure if that’s just going to further the issue if the other connectable Sony speakers also has an imbalance to them. What would you recommend if price wasn’t a factor? Thank you in advance!

As an audio engineer it's hard for me to be satisfied with any home speaker because I subconsciously find myself comparing them to full setups (which I have to stop myself from doing). Surprisingly, the srsxb12 is completely satisfactory for me as a carry around the house speaker...I bought two to put on either end of the house lol. It's also super cheap. I said all that to say it's weird for me (coming from a professional audio standpoint) to really give jbl the high ground but after watching a few of your videos I will say that as far as home speakers go they have that area covered better than most... not so much in professional quality though lol...I will never miss an opportunity to call them Junk But Loud lmao

Es de tomar en cuenta los códec que estamos acostumbrados a usar en dispositivos Bluetooth. ¿Por qué los dispositivos Sony tienen un sonido más claro y nítido? Por el códec de bluetooth LDAC que permite una reproducción en bluetooth de alta fidelidad, de alta calidad. En cambio JBL con el Boombox 2 solo permite el códec SBC que no es malo pero solo permite hasta 328 kbps, mucho menos que un CD convencional. Pero eso no quiere decir que el sonido del JBL sea malo, NO. Al contrario es potente y eso lo compensa. Mi comentario va hacia las personas que quieren saber porque el sonido es diferente. Es por los códec de audio que utilizan las diferentes bocinas bluetooth, o los códec de audio que permite tu teléfono Android o dispositivo de reproducción.

JBL sounds tinny in the mids and highs. The bass is over stated. Sony is well rounded and balanced. The bass is not in your face and over powering but definitely on point😉

With a thirdparty EQ The sony sounds bateria than The jbl i tested that and The app is amazing... if you put an usb memory în The sony all you songs appear on youre phone and you can change them as you like... Jbl doesent do that.... and The battery îs very good and IT tells you how much battery you have when you start it and when youre at 20%... and on The app you can se în real Time how much battery you have and how many hours Will play AT that volume so îs înșine , jbl doesent do that...oh and I payed 290$ NEW and The jbl was 490$ and flossy didnt even turn on The megabass and that makes a huge difference.

Sony seems more integrated in terms of lighting additions, ports, fast charging, and a large battery. I personally tend to buy a Sony speaker. The price is very reasonable. I got it for $350.

lno. hyperboom has no deep bass. i had one. no bass below 55hz. boombox 2 goes sub 40 hz. hyperboom has more upper bass then the boombox 2 but imo thats cheap bass. the boombox 2 is tuned for velvety smooth deep resonating bass. no other speaker in its class can come close.

@@campbelltown_ my boombox 2 does not distort at all. however my hyperboom did. i agree the hyperboom does have more power in its bass at max. it could defiantly shake my walls more then the jbl. but i cant understand why the bass cuts out below 55hz. it even has bass drivers that are a half inch larger. no excuse imo. if they retune the speaker to play under 40hz then it wound be superior but deep bass is my favorite and the jbl wins hands down

@@alexlittig7927 I agree the jbl has lower and deeper bass compared to the UE with the punchy bass. But both speakers at full volume, the UE really sounds cleaner than the jbl. The jbl may not be distorted however a side by side comparison says the UE is much better. The UE holds its bass at max volume and the sound is cleaner. The jbl loses bass and clarity at max volume.

Love your reviews, man! Please help me sort out couple of these confusions. So, I'm pretty much into debate, amongst these speakers, Boombox 2 and Hyperboom. Definitely I'm looking for a clear, crispy and most natural sound but then the bass at lower frequencies shouldn't be compensated. Which one do you think can deliver better my needs? let's not bring their prices to the decision! Secondly, it seems here in India, the Hyperboom has gone out of stock, and can't expect it to arrive back, im anytime within 3 months. So, if I go with Boombox 2(owing to its availability better ) , does that seemscompensating with the sound quality in any manner? Or should I be biased enough to hold on, until the thing arrives back? Third, does the Boombox 2 really does drop the vocals and that sound signature, around higher volumes, say 80 percent? And lastly, if I were to listen, around 50 percent volume, which one would you suggest to vibe out? Do, you think if I won't make it to Hyperboom, there'd be lot regret about?

So I recently purchased this speaker, and the sound is amazing, but the mid tones have to be adjusted with your phone settings and app. But is seems to me that Sony did this purposely. Now when I paired this speaker to the XB43, the sound is epic and flawless. You get the clear midtones from the XB43 and the deep, deep bass and acoustics from the XG500, and it sound is like being at a concert. I feel that they did this purposely for the party connect, and it works. If you have the side to side setting on your phone, it sounds much better that the wide surround sound also.

@@BrianNC81 yes its a better buy, even tho its not IP66 water resistant but the xp700 is IPX4 water resistant. So if it get wet a lil bit, it's ok.

@@1529kingchris not too worried about it getting wet. Primary would use is on the back deck, tunes in the garage, outside washing cars, and at our fire pit. Probably wouldn't use it much indoors because I have a home setup that would blow away any bluetooth (multiple Crown commercial amps driving two 15" subs with over 3000w RMS). If I needed a speaker on the go, I can grab my JBL Charge 4 or Charge 2. I'm also interested in plugging my electric violin into the big Sony box it to see how that sounds.

@@BrianNC81 oh shit 2 15's with 3000 watts r.m.s, damn u slappin harder than my car audio system with only 2 12's with only 800 r.m.s for the subs, 1,000 watts r.m.s for the amp. In that case definitely get the xp700, u will be happy with it. I would say get the JBL partybox 310 cuz thats the one I was originally trynna get but it aint none no where. The xp700 was like my second choice.
