Hi! I appreciate your vid is from 3 yrs ago, so hoping you will pick this up. I have in transit 12/2023 a Sony ta 3200f and ta 2000f both of course V fet amp and pre. Its a risk I know since Sony do not make V fet transistors anymore ( Nelson Pass bought them all I believe ) If one of the V fets go I am shot ! So I have a question you maybe able to help me with. Is it worth getting another, say ta 3200f amp as back up for parts, more specifically for the V fets ? Second question, would the transistors from the ta 3200f be compatible with the ones in the 2000f pre ? Hope you get this and reply with some good news, many thanks Alain from Australia.

Thanks for checking out the video! I dont know if the transistors are the same between the two models, this was the first of these Sony amps I worked on but if you can get a parts unit that has these transistors I 100% recommend doing it because parts like these will only become harder to find over time and if you intend on keeping the amp having spare parts will save you if ever needed.

Had this amp back in 1975, ran it with kiipsch Cornwall’s, didn’t care much for the sound, switch the amp for a tube amp, big difference,

Michael, thanks for watching the video! I also didn’t fall in love with this amp lol

Hope you gave it a fair shake they require 2volts input. Without that they are said to be thin.

I have 3200f that I have not touched for a decade. I am not sure it would work still now. I think it good for playing 70's JBL speakers such as L300, 4311, L100. I like sony amps of 70's.

This amp would be a great match for JBL speakers.

I have two of these, one with a transistor that crackles on the odd occasion, I have yet to find out if its a driver or an output, I'm thinking a driver...

Use heat and freeze spray to try and isolate which one it is, dont have it connected to your good speakers, use some you dont care about because the transistor that "crackles" is throwing DC out to the speakers when it acts up so the speakers are getting spikes of voltage.
