It's definitely a tedious task and not one of favorites as well. All the best, Don

I've used the baking soda / thin superglue technique to instantly bond those pesky broken posts. I've also used RTV in soapy water technique to first make a mold of a good post then move the mold over to the damaged or missing post. I then use thin layers of baking soda & superglue to cast a new post in place. The combination forms an incredibly tough material that you can drill & tap. It works in the restoration of other pieces too, ie., filling in missing pieces of Bakelite.

Thank you for sharing your methods and procedures, I’ll definitely give these techniques a try down the road. I haven’t checked out your channel, do you have any videos published that show your processes? Thanks again. Best, Don

@@RestoreOldRadios I'll give you another one: I saved a few empty ballpoints and fine liners and more of these tube like objects to fit one over the now two parts post, and with the epoxy you used it would be so strong...

Nice repair Don.

Thank you Gregg. Just curious, what have you been working on lately? Best, Don

Hey Don, those old brittle plastic repairs can be tricky. On some of those I have repaired in the past I have drilled a hole in the center of both pieces and inserted a brad with the head cut off to add strength before using the epoxy. :)

Great advice Doug. I’ll keep your technique/process in mind going forward. Thanks again for sharing and if we don’t touch base before, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. Best, Don

Hi I need some pictures of the circuit connection on the back side of the radio. Can you please help me with the pictures

Sorry, I no longer have the radio, but here’s the schematic below that should be helpful. Best, Don drive.google.com/file/d/1ZNUz7VJKW7zr2O0lSgvVbGMskwFreUWv/view?usp=drivesdk

@RestoreOldRadios Thanks for a reply. I have the service manual but the traces are not visible on the manual. So I wanted the pic of the circuit board as I messed up a few connections on my radio.

I went back through my raw video files and didn’t find anything that would be helpful. Hope you’re able to get it working again. All the best. Don

You should be able to call Sony and get a replacement under "right to repair"

Thanks John. I’ll pass the info along to the owner. Best, Don
