Thanks for your helpful videos!! Can I get an advice? I got an XBR-55X850G; it turn on, image is good but after 3 min it turns off and you can hear a click. also the red light flashes 6 times. What should I diagnose first? again thanks for your help.

6 blinks = LED strip failure. Replace your LED strips

Which pins turns a Hisense power board on? I have PWM SW and 5V-S not sure what they mean. PWM is pulse width modulation I assume but what does it do? I always like to test power boards isolated. This where my electronic knowledge falls short, I don't know some of this stuff and the only way to know is a service book that doesn't exist or you tube.

Vernon, Every TV is different, there is no 1 answer I can give you because depending on which TV you have, the answer will vary. When you have specific questions like this, I would be happy to answer them for you, but make sure you provide me with the model number of the TV and part number of the circuit board in question. I've been searching for instructions for testing the power board of my Sony set, which is an XR55A80J. The board is an AP-P525AM, not the same as the one you tested. Printed on my board are the functions of the various pins on the main board connector, but not the voltages. So far I haven't found a video featuring my board. Can you help?

For your board the legend says pins 22-28 should be 12v. Pin13 is your power_on line and 14 is the standby. Standby should have 5v if you short it to the power on line then your 12v should come up.

Thank you for the help! I have a sony bravia xbr-85x850g and have the exact same issue. For awhile the tv was stuck in headphones mode because it thought something was plugged into the jack. Then the other day the tv wouldn't power on at all. However, i can still hear the power supply click when I try to power it on. Most likely the main board?

I figured out the on pin, its the 5V_S which is right next to the Stndby, touched them together and got voltages out, I was told the SW turns on the backlights but I didn't try it. I found out the main cap and another small one that powers the back lights were cooked, the backlight cap randomly blew out smoke and oily substance at me, and get this, it still tested good after I removed it. I installed some new caps, all good.. So Success on this one. I have a CCFL I'm working on now, I'll make a new comment for it. Thanks for the advice.

Most power supplies have a PS_ON line that needs 3v applied to it. Some however need it shorted to ground if it by default has 3.3 v. Some plasma power supplies work like that.

I have a Samsung ln40e550f7f, its a CCFL back lit TV, the back light circuit is bad, pulling too much juice, burned up the fets and blew the fuse, tried new fets, they lasted 1 minute, never got lights, sound and image are ok. Considering converting it to LED maybe, otherwise prob not worth fixing. It has two large inverter modules. Do those typically go bad? or the lights?

It may only need 1 CCFL to be replaced. Often they are obviously damaged. Or they shine a different color. You could open it up, and take a peek at them and see if you can find anything obvious or if one of them shines a bit pink or dim then you have your culprit

EMMC.... is it like Bios chip in a pc? BTW I dumped the sony xbr I was working on, got several more free TVs, one is CCFL but hey its experience. two just need backlights, both 4K plus a Samsung 4k with a bad main board, what typically goes out on those?

Yes and no. The EMMC is like the Bios chip but also the hard drive that has the OS. It holds all of the software for the operating system. For the Samsung sets it depends on the board, sometimes it's the HDMI processor, sometimes it's the main processor, sometimes it's the EMMC. That is not a simple yes/no answer, there are a few minor differences. Some matter some don't. You would have to bring up the data sheets and compare them to one another. It will take at least 10-15 minutes to find all 3 and spend the time to compare all three and find all the differences. If you are looking to use them to fix an 850E power supply they are all similar enough and within tolerance to be used interchangeably.

So my issue with this TV is red light flashing. I’m guessing it has to do with the power supply, I switched outlets and the screen does turn on but shuts off around 20second in and starts flashing red again. What do you recommend I do for a diagnostic before I purchase a new board? Thanks man!

How many times does the red light flash? That is what will indicate the fault. 2 means power supply, 4 and 6 means backlight, 5 is T-con or panel 7 and 8 is mainboard.

4 blinks is LED strip failure, you will need to replace your LED strips. We don't really like to do LED strips because there is nothing really technical with it, it's just time-consuming and labor-intensive. We will occasionally do a few tougher ones such as the edge-lit but the backlit ones I don't know if we will be doing videos on. Maybe in the future.

How to fix Chromecast on Sony Android / Google TV after replace cpu or emmc without buying any stick's?

Chromcast and casting are 2 very different things. A chromcast will work just fine. Casting won't. Casting is the act of sending information from your phone to your TV via the wifi. If your TV has casting issues after replacing the eMMC chip, then you can purchase a Chromcast which is a device built by google you plugg into your TV's HDMI to cast from your phone to the chromcast thus bypassing the internal TV casting system. There is no way to go around it (at least not legally)

Yes, all you need to do is use a fire stick, Roku , or other streaming device. No unfortunately Netflix, Prime video, Hulu and possible other smart apps will never work after you replace the EMMC unless you you do something not entirely legal. We could, but we aren't in the business of getting in trouble.
