Thanks for the video. For me the two main reasons to buy this Walkman: 1. Storage capacity (it can hold all my music in all formats and lossless). 2. @@sandcat-maurice ounds great. I have a small question...From what i understand,the power button works like in the case of a phone. You tap it,it turns the screen on or off alternatively. If you hold it for longer,it turns the device on/off alternatively. So far,so good. But how do the side buttons work,play/pause,forward/back track,volume ? If you press them when the screen is off(but playing music), do the screen lights up ? If not,and you can mess with music controls while the screen stays off,it saves battery. I have the smaller,older nwz E383, two of them actually. One annoying feature of that device is that it lacks dedicated side buttons for volume,so when you press volume keys(up down on that "mickey mouse" key design),it lights up the screen too,which consumes battery. And those are tiny screens compared to this. That's what many people struggle to understand,that screens consume the majority of your device. Worked in electronics retail some years ago,and never fell into the trap that bigger phones are more battery efficient. You increase the size,yeah the battery may increase in capacity,but the screen does also. So it evens out in the end,given everything else is the same(same os,same battery technology...). On the other hand,small mp3 players(or DAPs) are fantastic when on the move. Used to travel for my work al over the globe,and just took my phone,and this small device. A lot of power(single or two) day tourist sight seeing.Phones(no data) used for gps,and taking some pictures,and music on the mp3 player. Light and comfy,no extra batteries,no cables.Just leave the hotel room,and come back in the evening,or next day. The ability to literally blind operate your mp3 player in you pocket,is fantastic. No sticking out big cumbersome phone out,just put your hand in your pocket and change volume,play/pause. Sometimes not even doing that,just pressing it through the fabric of your pants. Thanks for your time,and if you can answer my small curiosity,it will be great. Just check if the screen lights up while you play/pause and change tracks.

If you don't want to be bothered by apps, emails, social media, text messages, phone calls, update notifications and a zillion other things begging for attention : get a non-android mp3 player. This is a good one, I have it and the sound is superb, especially when you have "Clear Audio" enabled on it. Another thing about using your smart phone for mp3 player is that it drains the battery and you have to charge it more frequently, thus decreasing the life of the smart phone and then your out spending another $1000 or more on a new cell phone.

Thanks for pushing clever content to the Tube. I'm one of the subs who I think really appreciate this channel. One little suggestion that you might want to include as a point of focus - mainly because I haven't seen (m)any other tech reviewers doing it - when it comes to audio, is how many steps of volume you get when you press the volume up/down keys on a smartphone for instance, between completely quiet, to maximum volume. With the exception of LG (which has 75), most Android manufacturers use 15 steps of volume (which is inexcusable in 2020 IMO but that's beside the point). A very few other brands use around 20 or 25 steps of volume for media playback which is marginally better than 15. With handsets dedicated to audio such as the upcoming Xperia 1 II that might be valuable information to people who consider buying it and literally no one mentions this when they review a phone. The same applies when reviewing a wireless set of headphones as the WF1000XM3B shown in this video, because they have their own DAC and volume control independent form the source device. Keep up the good work!

Then the eq does not affect volume and works in a more analogue fz way. Then the battery last for 1 week. Then played all formats. Then can play 24 but by 99hz by ldac format for wireless. Sd card and sound quality. So guys ,dont compare a phone with this. If you have cheap earphones. Yes phone is fine. Crap wireless, yes. Phone. Good wired iem. Get this if you want a pure sound.

I just don't think I can justify how much these things cost though. Last time I checked, it was cheaper to just get a Sony XZ1 Compact. It's a little bigger, but it should still have pretty great battery life if you disable everything except for music and just use it as a media player. Also it's a backup phone should your main phone die. I have the regular XZ1 as my main phone but I've wanted one of the compact phones for years. I use a Nokia Lumia 830 for my music at the moment but Windows phone is dead now and it's kinda buggy. Which headphone best for Walkman-50 or 55

I've got the previous nwa45, very good, but battery life is not a patch on an ipod classic. Look into removing the EU volume cap too, takes about 20mins to read, follow and do it.

What is the best music software to organize the music on this device ( I have the previous version ) but as an ex IPod owner I have the fact that my music is all over the place inside this device ( ITunes for IPod was the king of music collection organization. ) but the IPod unfortunately are on the way out and I know that sooner or later so will be the best music organization software ITunes. What would you say it would be the best music organization software compatible with the Sony Walkman?

I'd recommend MediaMonkey. It allows you to arrange you music on the player any way you choose. The one thing you will have to do is set up this player in MediaMonkey (it will see it as a generic audio device and you will have tell it what kind of files it can use). It isn't hard to do, but it has to be done.
@johnmknox2 жыл бұрын
How does it handle playlists? Does it delete all your playlists and move songs to the cloud that you've purchased and prevent you from redownloading them again because the artist has removed them from the iTunes store like Apple does?
@Solitaire0019 ай бұрын
As far as I know, this Walkman has nothing to do with the cloud, you just connect your player to your computer to load music from your computer on your player. You can load music via drag and drop or by using a music management program (I use MediaMonkey 4 with mine). Concerning playlists, you can create them on your computer using music management software and then load them on your players. Another option is to create the playlists on your player. Unlike previous Walkman players, the A55 has complete playlist management on the player without the need for a computer. On the player your can create and delete playlists, add and delete songs from playlists, and re-order playlists. There are two limitations with playlists: (1) You can't put songs from the internal storage and in the memory card in the same playlist, and (2) the maximum number of songs a playlist can contain is 999. BTW, the player also has Bookmark Lists. These are 10 small preloaded playlists that can contain up to 100 songs each. Unlike playlists, you can put songs from the internal storage and in the memory card in the same Bookmark List.

Hey there, Sony Walkman's are great, however if you happen to have a Sony phone anyway (or any smartphone) and require hifi qualitysound (you will not get this in ANY phones internal dac no matter how good they say it is) then buy an EXTERNAL DAC like the Audioquest dragonfly black, the size of a usb flash drive and is only around £60
@liquidtunes4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. There is the usefulness of a standalone player though, including tactile buttons. How would you say the sound compares for say an FLAC played on the phone + DF Black v on the NW-A55? And similarly for an MP3 on each?
@theSFCchannel4 жыл бұрын
@@liquidtunes I can't speak for mp3 but for 24 bit flacs are brilliant bon a phone with a external DAC . I just have the cheapest external DAC with the most expensive cobalt dragonfly being £220

Material IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard)...Ranking Metal % Conductivity* 1 Silver (Pure) 105%...2 Copper 100%...3 Gold (Pure) 70%. Gold doesn't tarnish/oxidise like silver and copper, keeping the equipment from prematurely degrading ( especially audio quality ) is probably a more realistic reason for it's use in higher end audio devices, keeping impedances from varying over time.

Sony 550i Walkman was my first ever Sony cellphone back in 2005. Still never used other than Sony phones till today, and looking forward for Xperia 1ii. I would love a new Sony Walkman cellphone or CyberShot cellphone with one more focused in sound and music, the other to be the best in camera phones. Why not throwing Sony Playstation Mobile while at it? Cellphone gaming is growing, not a bad idea if you ask me.
