You can get an English app for this from the UK. These were sold in England as well. You will probably need to sideload it.

What did you do to your left thumb? Looks like whatever it was it was painful... 😬

Thanks for your concern - a small fight with an impact driver and 75mm (3") screws. I didn't enjoy it...

@@a531016 I was going to guess that a thumb detector found your thumb. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way for this experience, but a bruised nail bed is something of a rite of passage for makers.

Thanks for the teardown. Very helpful. I bought a used Wena 3 to try out in the US. It didn't come with a charger though and I can't find a charger anywhere. I plan to make my own 5V DC charger but not sure about polarity. I assume it has reverse voltage protection but 50/50 chance. Any idea about pin polarity?

Still ware my 'pebble time steel' daily. Many years later and no one makes a simple smartwatch with a long battery life like pebble did. Don’t need heartrate or exercise or any of the fancy features. All I want is vibrate to get my attention and show who is calling or start of email/text. A watch clasp like this would be ideal as I to prefer mechanical watches.

I wear the Amazfit Bip S, which is 1 month always-on colour display smart watch so actually twice as long as the pebbles, which sadly Fitbit killed years ago and pebble tried to sell to Amazfit but were told they were already working on their own transflective screen technology. Anyway back to watch, has heart rate detection I don't use, built in GPS, waterproof, vibration and a working 1st party phone app to configure and change screen. Best part is that they're only about £50 and come in a range of colours. Downsides are sleep cycle detection works, but data's not used like the pebble could wake you up during light cycles. But 50 quid for new device with fresh battery that lasts a month per charge and colour always on display, can't go wrong.

Dude, you could just strap a TV set on your wrist. People wear old school watches for more reasons than sentimental value. Smart watches just don't have enough USABLE functionality. The bottom line is they are not worth the money. My Seiko Diver is ancient, and works just fine. And it's not a status symbol. Seiko divers are a dime a dozen. If anything that smart watch of your is the status symbol. You phone does everything it does, and better. And cheaper.
@a53101610 ай бұрын
I find that having a smart watch helped me be on my phone less. As I knew I wouldn't get it out my pocket to check it so often (for time or notifications) I then wouldn't interact with it. That was value in itself. I really don't do much else with it beyond notifications and time!

The same argument can be said for standard watches as well. Your phone already keeps time better than a mechanical watch, syncs itself to an atomic clock automatically, automatically accounts for daylight savings, etc, so why wear a watch if a phone does it better? Smartwatches, and watches in general, arn't for everyone, but there are many that have uses for them.

I have an old school automatic mechanical watch. It tells time. That’s what I want in a watch. One dial with 12 numbers, three hands. That’s the list and all it needs.
@laurensweyn10 ай бұрын
@@Bill_N_ATX Well then obviously a smartwatch isn't for you. But I also want to see the date, some weather info, when my next calendar event is, if I've had any notifications and maybe even my phone's battery level at a glance so I don't have to constantly pull out and check my phone for these things. If you don't, that's fine. Many people are fine with checking their phone or wall clocks for the time as well.

Sorry - sometimes I feel the need to explain what a device is, or why it exists. Especially for the more niche stuff!
