Honestly, ive had a pair of these for almost a year now. The battery dies after about 2 hours of usage with noise cancellation features on now and the build quaility is absolutly terrible. Its mostly plastic, combined with the foamy eartips make these slip out of your ear. Having to clean and maintain them is also such a hassle. Im relativly clean when it comes to ear wax and keeping my hands and items clean but these earphones are honestly almost impossible to maintain. Its the biggest fingerprint magnet. The foam eartips will tear and leave foamy bits behind after plenty usage. For anyone who doesnt have a problem with typical earbud designs then theyre still an great set. Sound quality is what you expect from sony (Fantastic sound) and the features they offer are easy and quick to use. If you plan to wear these every so often then theyre a good pair if you can buy it on sale. For $200-300, its absolutely not worth it unless you have money to blow. If they were under $200 id consider them if you want a short term pair of earbuds. Overall, Sound is amazing, Build quality is doo doo cheeks, features are responsive and easy to use, and battery life is okay. The case for these earbuds are nice though.

I have a pair of xm5 myself. Previously, I used the Galaxy buds2 pro. Here's my 5 cents on the xm5s. I use for work in a noisy environment and equipment like pneumatic hammers, drills, and aircraft in general. Here's my 5 cents on them. I use 3rd party ear tips that I found improved passive noise cancellation and ability to stay in ear The anc is about as effective as earplugs if not better at certain frequencies and noise levels. They are so slippery, they slip out of comfortable fit occasionally. Too often for my liking. Would be worse with oem eartips.

@AndrewSanna-y1n mine are no brands. I'd love to share with you the exact ones i got, but they aren't selling on amazon. I got them off a popular app similar to amazon Prime in my region called Shoppee. However, I have tried the 3rd party eartips from Comply, and I can confidently say they perform about the same as the stock ones.

I agree they look weird. Also, I really don't like the brand lettering on earbuds like JBL and BOSE. For that reason alone, I'm not buying those.

Stem designs are not comfortable for everyone, I just returned Nothing ear due to unbearable discomfort. If you have no issues with that bulky design, just buy Nothing, the sound quality was god tier.

8hrs of continuous battery life and 24 hrs on the case is more than enough. I doubt people are actually going to keep those in without taking a 30 min break in those 8 hrs which is more than enough time to recharge the buds. Bad take.

It's about longevity. 3 years from now it would only be a couple hours if you use them regularly. Having a larger battery is just future proofing since all batteries degrade over time and all wireless earbuds don't have replaceable batteries.

tactile buttons are good for if you're constantly in an environment where your hands are constantly busy or covered like gloves. for example, if you're washing dishes, you can use your shoulders to press the buttons instead of drying off your hands before doing anything

I was already set on buying this when the smoky le serrafim version came out. When i tried them at the shop i completely lost interest. Yes, the ANC was good but the buds were so bulky, heavty, slippy and it was so difficult to insert them in

Could you please give me more insights on this problem? I got the xm4 und just last week the left earbuds battery capacity dropped like crazy. It last like 10 Minutes and is empty while the other one is still on 90%. I won’t get the xm5 if they’ll have the same problem

It's to do with the 2.0.1 update release last year, sony ain't taking any ownership, there's plenty of videos by other content creators talking about it and on reddit

Not a word about codecs!!!!! Try using with a phone with LDAC and see the diference. You are earing mp3 level type sound. And ACC on apple... bad.

Best my ass. A huge disappointment. What kind of perfect silence were you talking about? It reduces noise about as much as a cotton earplug. There are a lot of settings in the app, but most of the functions are just a bunch of crap. I have an older Huawei noise cancelling headset that I bought for a tenth of the price, and it's much better in every way. I'm not exaggerating. And the fact that their app doesn't have an English menu is just a disservice to customers from other countries. I have a Sony WH 1000XM4 headphone, which is amazing. I know that a headphone will always do better noise reduction than a earphone, but to have such a big difference.... I expected so much from these earphone, but I regret buying them so much that I can't even tell you. I'm going back to Huawei and I'm going to throw this shit at someone.

Everyone beware.... in a crowded place, on a plane, airport, shopping centre etc, these buds are useless even with priority for stable connection turned on. All the bluetooth signals around you will interfere and make using these buds piontless. Sony have gone backwards. My Sony wf700's are far better, cost a 1/3 of the xm5's and do not suffer from external bluetooth interference
