Got my PXs yesterday and I have to say they are one of the finest headphones I’ve ever purchased. Bluetooth sound is hardly taking a back seat at this point. The build quality is unmatched by anything in the price range anyway (they remind me of my Edition 12s). They automatically turn on and off don’t even need the power button lol. And my god they are gorgeous, that gold is just so eye catching in bright rooms and it fits well with navy. The sound quality is a lot better than I thought it would be. Very clean though it could probably use just a smidgen of bass. Fun sound, produces voices and instruments well. Also the weight didn’t bother me at all after about 2 hours of listening, except for the sound, they were hardly noticeable. There is nothing I don’t like about these. Also something reviewers failed to mention is that their passive noise canceling is quite good. In other words I don’t even think I’ll need the active one unless I just want to reduce noise while not listening. Very happy with my purchase. Money well spent!

I’ve recently switched to Master & Dynamic MW50 (on ear), they are much smaller and they hold up very well for the price ($125) maybe you should check those out too.

I have both headphones, the Sony 1000mx3 and the B&W PX. SOUND: However, I intend to say that B&W has a more intense bass, and Sony has a more BOOOMMM bass! Did I make myself understand? After listening a techno music at high volume, the results in my head were different: With the Sony 1000mx3 I kept my head vibrating. With the B&W PX I got my head to echo inside! The B&W PX bass comes in inside the head, and the Sony 1000mx3 vibrates the outside of the head. Different results for different tastes. I prefer the Bass of the B&W PX, more real and penetrating, like a punch in the head. Sony sounds a little artificial. In addition, the B&W PX volume is higher. When it reaches the volume limit on the Sony 1000mx3, the B&W still has another 20% to add. Without a doubt, the sound of the B&W PX is superior, more defined and more elegant. I say this without any tendency, because I bought both. Do not forget the following: B&W is a company dedicated exclusively to sound, equipping high-end cars like Ferrari, BMW's etc. Sony produces a wide variety of things, from mobile phones to microwaves. B&W is a lady of sound quality, because she dedicates himself exclusively to this. COMFORT: With regard to comfort, the Sony 1000mx3 are more comfortable, nor giving almost by the presence of them in the head. 👍👍👍 However, while the B&W PXs are less comfortable, the ears stay free inside the earpiece, being cooler and not causing perspiration. The Sony 1000mx3 ears do not have space inside the headphones, and make them perspire on hotter days. Unsustainable in summer days, much less to walk down the street on sunny days. 👎 The quality of construction is top notch in the B&W PX. All in aluminum, and genuine leather. It costs € 400 in Europe but pays for the elegance and quality of construction. 👍 The Sony 1000mx3 is all in plastic and synthetic skin. In Europe costs € 380, but it seems that we are buying plastic.👎 However the Sony are lighter and therefore more comfortable. 👍 NOISE CANCELLATION: The Sony 1000mx3 has a perfect noise cancellation, it looks like you put your head inside a vacuum chamber. Perfect! 👍👍👍 The B&W PX though reasonable in noise cancellation, but are far from the Sony 1000mx3. Android/ Apple APPLICATION: With respect to the Android application to control the headphones, the Sony is perfect, as well as the indicator sounds in your own language. The B&W PX are just beeps. 👎👎👎 The B&W PX application only serves to control the level of noise reduction (which is best to keep it OFF), and to control the system to pause the music when you remove the B&W PX from your ears (which works at 80%). The app for B&W PX is terribly basic 👎👎👎 CONCLUSION? Comparing these headphones to a women, I would say: That the Sony are that kind of woman, very devoted to home and children, but a little less beautiful and more chubby. The B&W PX is that a elegant woman, very pretty, but untidy woman at home. So, if you prefer the ugly and dedicated woman at home, you will always look at the beautiful woman. If you prefer the elegant and beautiful woman, you go and wash your dishes at home. You choose. 😁😁😎 I prefer the B&W PX, although I know it does not have all those features that would do it great. I'm more of a fan of B&W PX's aesthetic and sound elegance. If you choose B&W PX you will make a good choice, but sacrificing some aspects of the Sony 1000mx3 that would make music even more enjoyable. If you buy Sony, you're just one more who bought a headset for €350. If you buy B & W, whoever watches you knows that you like not just music but sound quality. Some of the "business" websites that do the comparatives, seem to give 100% preference to Sony, but gave me the impression of sponsorship by Sony. 😀😀😀 Because everyone knows Sony, and a lot of people have never heard of Bowers & Wilkins, only sound connoisseurs know it. Thus, Sony is more mediated, and ends up having a control of public opinion, and obviously creates a subconscious tendency by Sony, even some of youtubers who make these comparatives . If you are young, and like techno, buy a Sony. But if you are over 40 years old, and want to make up for the lack of youth with charm, buy B&W PX 😎👍 . .

I find the PX to be perfectly comfortable after broken in. Also the fact that they use real leather means that they do need to be broken in, unlike the ones that use fake leather which will eventually start to peel. I don't want to have a $400 pair of headphones that starts falling apart.I don't find there to be any issues with the comfort of the PX and I have a pretty big head although I do have somewhat small ears in comparison.

I did what most people would find like a downgrade and traded in my PXs for these Sony’s. I had the PXs for almost a year and a big con (apart from poor noise cancelling feature imo) was the comfort. I wear these a lot to study and I thought they would get comfier overtime (like the cushioning/leather would get softer) but it never did. My head would hurt/feel compressed after prolonged use. With these Sony’s, though I had to make major sacrifice in terms of looks (I loooooved the PXs sleek look, these Sony’s are so meh in comparison), comfort and noise cancelling has been so far so great.

Imo, ANC capabilities on headphones/earphones have lately been an overhyped feature. Do we really need ANC if we're just looking for a good pair of headphones w/ good passive isolation, or do we just want ANC because all the brands say we need it? Likewise for all the other bells & whistles that the Sony and Bose headphones may tout. For daily use, my train/bus commutes (in Singapore) isn't really an issue for me in terms of noise. Neither do I don't fly that often. Hence, I rarely use the ANC feature. Perhaps the B&W PX has really good passive isolation for my head shape. Anyway, the Sony and Bose equivalents might do better in most other areas, but most of these features are gimmicks to me anyway. And if i'm going to spend this much on a pair of headphones, I'd make sure that my $$ is being spent on good sound quality (w/o ANC), good passive isolation & long-lasting build quality. Everything else is just marketing and/or noise (for a lack of a better pun).

I have just got the Sony's because I found the wires on my Meze 99C's were a pain in the ass when doing stuff out and about, often yanking the bloody things off my head by mistake. I've now got the best of both worlds; when I'm sat down listening to music I use my Meze's connected to an Audioquest Dragonfly red and get the superior sound quality and when I'm out and about doing stuff I get more than decent sound from my Sony's with decent sound isolation. Both are really comfortable. Meze's are similarly balanced to the Sony but with a much more natural sound and clarity and detail throughout the frequency range. Sorted!

I saw your Bose Qc 35 review and I agree with you regarding the sound. I have the Sony 1000xm3 and pxc 550. The sound from the Bose is the crispest with great sense of expansion. The sennheisers sound low and pathetic. No bass, no highs and muffled mids. The Sony have bass, vocals sound "nearer" to the ears compared to the Bose since the latter provide a better sense of spatial listening. I like both implementations. I also find the bass on the Bose to be the most realistic. You get the rumble when you expect it in a song. It's not overdone and feels real. The sonys create an unnecessary deep rumble all throughout the song which feels digital to the ears. I agree with you regarding your comment on Mr Mobile's review of the Sonys. He and Boredatwork didn't agree with you but I now know that you were right regarding the sound of the Bose. Also the Rtings channel review also showed how objective assessment proves the Bose to be better. My question is: Do the B&W PX sound rich with deep organic rumble in bass? I've learnt to appreciate clarity and crisp vocals listening to the Bose and I'd like to have something similar. I'll be honest with you, I'm a basshead. I am coming from the Sony XB950bt. But I think it's time for an upgrade in sound quality. It's been 3+ years with my Sonys and I've been fully satisfied with them. I would like to have superior sound while not compromising on bass much. I understand that the PX or for that matter other headphones in this range won't give me the extra bass that I'm used to from the Sonys but I don't want that anymore. I am looking for a sound quality upgrade with headphones that don't sound completely flat like the Sennheisers. I want something more fun and involving. I see from your reviews that you prefer the Bose and PX over the Sony sound-wise. I have a similar ear so I thought I'd ask your help. I can return the 1000xm3 to Amazon. I'm leaning towards the PX. Your suggestion and inputs in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

It does make me feel bad as well. It's been a really frustrating month. Got the v moda Crossfade 2 wireless, B&O H4 and H7, Sennheiser PXC and now the Sony 1000s. Except the Sony I've returned them all. Got the Bose QC from the Bose store so I'll keep them. I'm apprehensive about ordering the PX since there aren't many reviews on KZbin. Only the most popular headphones have the most reviews (The Bose and Sony) I feel whether it'd be worth it. If I do order them and if I if I do like them more, then I'll probably sell the Bose. I'll wait for the refund for the Sennheiser to reflect back in my account before deciding. What would you say? Should I order them? PS: I'll take care not to listen at high volumes. I generally don't, but it's in this testing and comparing phase that I crank them all the way to hear the difference in sound and levels of distortion. I have a question about the PX. I read the hype but my experience was so different. I hated the sound. To me it was too upper bass emphasized with not enough thump or sparkle. Some songs sounded like the cans had potential (especially the sound stage) but overall I was very disappointed coming from the P7s. Enabling noise cancelling made it better but kinda strange. Question is have the firmware updates resolved some of the bugs with connection and other stuff. Also does “burn in” (playing them to allow them to “loosen up”), mental burn in (me adapting to a different sound) or physical break-in (the headband and ear muffs fitting better over time due to loosening up) improve the sound? Thank you.

My tastes are similar. Sound quality and enjoyment is subjective but I could not stand the sound of the PX. Intellectually I understand its spacious and has detail but too much “depth” and midbass. No sparkle or thump most of the time. I wonder if my pair was defective. I liked the P7 wireless a lot. I’ve been tempted to try a second pair but $400 is a lot to tie up and I don’t want to get flagged for too many returns. With the Sonys they were better but dull and a bit muffled until I used the app’s EQ. Pushing clear bass down -3 and bumping up 2 KHZ and 6 KHZ +3 got them sounding mighty nice to me. I try to be conservative when I adjust EQ. All the other factors make the Sonys the clear winner so far.

Excellent comparison video! The sound quality of the PX in flight mode has radically changed after 2 updates (I'm on the latest). I would say it's a lot better than before. In some cases I prefer it with ANC on than off. Anyway, I think the bass of the Px is a touch too dull (like a dull knife). It needs a little bit more sub bass. The Bose qc35 has a much better balance of bass (mid and low) and I can FEEL the bass more in the Bose. I have a few questions. 1. Is the comfort of the Nuraphone better than the PXs? A lot, a little? 2. Is it possible (have you tried) to EQ (from the app) the Sony to have less midbass and a more balanced bass (like the Bose) and more upper treble extension? What were your results? Thanks!

Always VIRAL agreed. The Bose sound nice at first but artificial and boring to me. I tried them a few times at Best Buy (and credit to Bose for letting the customers try the cans via their phone’s bluetooth, Beats and most other companies don’t allow this). And not loud enough. The Sonys are loud enough and the PXs have volume to spare.

Chris Pineo I have to disagree. Bose sound more clearer and lively imo. The bass is better quality also. Like the reviewer said, sometimes the treble distorts at high volumes though and makes the Bose a little edgy. I’ll get the Sony if there was a decent way to lower the midbass a little and extend the upper treble a bit.

h1a8 Fair enough. The app’s EQ was a must for me and really helped. Failing that for just a few bucks there are several EQ apps that can do wonders. I prefer Player Pro for Android and I have Kaisertone for the iPhone. Problem with that is you have to play all music within the app to enjoy the EQ adjustments. Spotify for iOS has an EQ but not Android (last I heard). I’m very picky about the type of sound I like. Its not necessarily better but its what I prefer so a gently adjusted EQ is almost a must for me. Gone are the days when I cranked 16 kHZ all the way up lol.

I find the px way better, maybe its dependable on which particular genre of music one prefers, but for classical music, ochestrial music, bowers and wilkins is way ahead, bass wise, sony is deeper, but for me, a deep loud bass, tends to drown out the rest of the music.

Sony doesn't drown anything. With Sony you can even tweak your bass while you cant tweak anything on px

Aziq Aqil XM3’s have wayyy more bass. The PX have a punchy, tight bass with unprecedented detail, though. But if you’re after bass, go with the Sony’s because you get an equalizer in-app that can really crank the bass and no EQ with the PX app.

Sony may have a tiny edge in ANC.....but Bowers and Wilkins kills them in sound quality. In order for the Sony to sound good, you have to play with the EQ. Bowers and Wilkins does not have that and it beats the pants off Sony. Plus the build quality of the Bowers are second to none

I have the 550s, and have had all 3 versions of the Sony 1000s. Sent the XM3s back. Noise cancelling much worse than the 2s and the sound is actually worse (though less distortion at highest volume). 550s remain my most used, and I've kept the 2s for planes. Tried 3 pairs of XM3s, and all clearly worse when directly compared to the XM2.

Just got the Sony WH-1000Xm3. Stopped working after i did the FW upgrade via my Iphone. The only reaction i can get is from the power light when i hold the powerbutton, it gives i a blue light for like 0.2 of a second. Tried all ways of factory resetting, but stuck with the same issue :/ Hoping anyone else experienced the same and has a solution :) Will probly end up returing them and getting a new pair as both the previous generations have served me well

The Sony cant use LDAC with EQ(sound priority), so i had to use (stable connection without LDAC) to get the sound i want, so in other words the LDAC is totally useless for me. I also have the B&W H9i, and the sound is alot better from the B&W without any EQ on both!

@@Slycarlo unfortunately not, I have a Sony XZ Premium. After a week the honeymoon period is over. They aren't that great compared to the original MDR1000X. I actually find they make my ears hotter quicker. Also the sound is very unbalanced, the bass is really overwhelming. There isn't much presence for the mids to thrive in. Last but not least the MDR1000X do a better job of passive noise isolation with better insulation. The only thing that the M3's are better for suppressing high frequency sounds by like 20 percent but it doesn't do as well in suppressing mids like MDR1000X so I can still here winds and humming of window AC where MDR1000X almost makes window AC vanish. I am returning my M3's today as I do not find it is worth the upgrade.
