Bought mine in the summer of 1984 and took it to Alpine Valley Wisconsin to begin my journey recording the Grateful Dead. I graduated to a TCD-5M by 1985, but the trusty D6 got me going. I eventually traded it for my first car in 1986, a Toyota Corona. This tape deck has a warm place in my heart.

@ do you know what chip or where to get one? I need to fix mine as I did reverse polarity in a rush to power the unit.

@@radiospanki use only original sony chips, this time i took it from dd11 since it have the same chip. There are optionsz in ebay, but i think all of them are fake and will not work or will not last long. Cheers

@ ugh yea heard that advice, problem is buying a used for parts Walkman is as much as what I paid. Also when they list for parts how do I know the chip isn’t damaged

@ yes its not that easy, but possible to get one from cheap damaged sony substitute… you can always ask seller, but there is always risk that you may have to take or not :)
