so i got this head unit day before and here are some observations after updating fw within 30 mins of getting it. i was using a pioneer fh-x789bt (731bt outisde india) for 2 months before this but it developed the crappy pico fuse issue so sold it. 1. goes back to playing music immediately after finishing a call on bt with android (much faster than on the pioneer). 2. in the 2 days ive had it, its reset itself and forgotten all settings today so had to redo them all. will keep an eye on this. 3. ive kept all eq off and only kept clearaudio+ and dsee on and the sq is superb. 4. the height of the unit seems to be a little shorter than other double dins ive used. 5. while playing music with a usb drive it said "checking" in between a track around 2 or 3 times yesterday. 6. the frequency slopes are just numbered 1, 2 and 3 but no db shown for them. 7. im not getting any beeps on button presses even with it turned on. it has 2 yrs warranty so i guess i can show it at the service center.

Hi, Kunal. I had also purchased Pioneer fhx789 BT, in which USB drive is not working even after trying 5-6 pen drives and formatting it several times (given back to dealer/service center). Did you face any of such problems?? I am also fed up with 789Bt, and feel like I should switch to SONY. What do u suggest? How is the sound quality compared to Pioneer 789BT ? Please advice.

viragvyas5 viragvyas5 i had the alternator whine issue and loud thump sound from my speakers and woofer when i would turn it off just 2 months after buying it. usb was fine. go for the sony. it sounds very nice even though it doesn't have detailed sound customisation options as most are not required when you have a good system anyway.

The Sony does support stereo audio streaming via Bluetooth (A2DP), so, you can hear audio from your Bluetooth phone play through the stereo. The manual is not clear on how to turn off the flashing rainbow lights that appear when the radio is idle (whilst playing music.) I have tried every setting in display, including changing the colours for everything to white. The flashing lights when driving at night are very distracting. Please advise how to change this? It never used to do this, but my radio somehow reset itself recently and I don't know how to change it back (I bought the car second hand with the radio already installed).

This came with a mic right? Because I connected it into the radio and ran it threw my dash so it's above my steering wheel in case I need to take calls while driving, but nobody can hear me on the other end, it automatically connects to my Bluetooth and idk how to fix it so people can hear me haha maybe I'm missing something but it never worked for me.

It did come with a wired microphone, yes. You may want to be sure the mic is connected securely to the "MIC" input on the back of the stereo chassis. (there's a red mic input in the middle and a blue "remote" input to the right) If the microphone is properly connected, you may have the stereo in "Handheld" mode which switches the call over to your phone. To switch the stereo back to "hands free" mode, press the "Mode" button on the stereo while on a call. Hope that helps. --Crutchfield

Press button-settings-display all c-choose a color. By default u will always get white color in settings mode. But once u go back, u will get your preferred color.

I skimmed through the manual and the only mention I can find for changing the information displayed is to press the DSPL button until the desired information is seen. If that does not work, then I recommend speaking with a technician about it. If you purchased it from Crutchfield, you can call our technical support for help. There could be a few different reasons that you are not hearing any high range audio. I'd recommend contacting a technician for help figuring out if its the Sony receiver or something else. You may have the stereo in "Private" Bluetooth mode which transfers the call over to your phone's microphone. To switch back to using the stereo's microphone and speakers for your calls, press the "Mode" button on the stereo during a call.Hope that helps!--Crutchfield

It looks like the front USB on this model is only a 1A USB connection. This would not be strong enough to charge most current cell phones, but would trickle charge cell phones from a couple of years ago (when this receiver came out).

892/Shy Girlie films when you select a colour and its set, it stays same colour for as long as you interact with it. if you dont touch any buttons after about 10mins it goes back into demo mode and will go back to your colour when you turn the knob.

Sound like you have the stereo in the default "Demo" mode. To cancel Demo mode press the "Menu" button and then turn the dial to select "Set General" and press in on the knob to select the option. Turn the knob again to select "Set Demo" and press in on the knob to select the option. Rotate the knob to select "Set Demo-Off" and press in on the knob to select the option.
