Sony X80J Review (4K HDR TV)

Can you tell me how does the hdr and Dolby vision performance is on this tv? There are mixed reviews on how good the hdr and Dolby vision looks on the Sony x80j.

This is a bit subjective. In my personal case, I really like HDR performance on X80j - it is soft. I have seen HDR screens that are too bright and one ends up turning off the feature. I have found HDR on X80J good. I end up seeing the benefit when I play something from my iPhone 12/13. The bigger issue though is lack of true HDR content for day today usage.

@@TechTravelShow I think sdr is where this tv stands alone. Hdr not bright but color accuracy is amazing hands down.

Can you please tell me when you push the settings button does it show the sound profiles :music, standard, cinema ?

Nopes, doesn’t show those options. Mine is connected to an external receiver - not sure if that changes things.

I recently just bought this tv. It is clear when i have the apps on, but blurry when it connects to my cable. Any idea how i could fix that? Or if it’s just my cable box?

Not fully sure, could be the HDMI cable, perhaps try changing that. To rule out any issues to HDMI in of TV, perhaps you can try to connect your laptop or any other HDMI device.

Hi, thank you for your comment. I didn’t get to compare with this specific LG model 7740, so can’t really give you an answer. Specs wise, they both are sound more or less similar. I will suggest see them at a retail store and make a judgement based on the colors that you like more. LG and Sony process colors differently and it comes down to individual preference. If it still looks the same, I would go for Sony - Sony TVs in general last long.

Dont buy this sony model. Same model and already have screen issue even though i dont use it that much.

After 2 years and 4 months already got screen issue. And as per sony the screen needs replacement and i need to pay around 350 to 400 usd to replace the screen its almost a bnew tv already for the price.

Yeah? Then say a bit more why and where it blows this Sony cause I can't decide between the two. Hisense seems a good choice but you know, everybody says "Go Sony, you can't go wrong". Your own experience could help. Thanks.

@@racineurr.8924 brighter , better blacks and better HDR experience. I bought the Sony , returned it the same day. Bought the Hisense and it was far superior.

If some one follows rating then obviously Hisense U7G has a better rating than X80j, it beats even X85j in terms of rating.

@@racineurr.8924 Buy Sony bro.Hisense are highly calibrated to impress you, but they are nothing less of Chinese junks. I once bought a highly rated Hisense 75" micro led TV which I regretted later. The TV was freezing into reddish or pinkish when i connected 4k sources either from usb or external source. Secondly, its very poor when it comes to internet connectivity. Poor audio, freezes when connected to satellite via cable. Those ratings are generated and paid for. Don't trust them

@@vicetech2920 I understand and thank you but 'Chinese junk'...every brand is Chinese junk nowadays. aren't they all Made in China? Anyway, I've read as many complaints about Sony than about Samsung or Hisense or TCL. Wish TVs were still made in US or Japan.
