When I heard the N3AP, I was like "this is it, the almost perfect earphone" in my personal opinion/taste. I loved almost everything about it. Love how the bass doesn't overshadow the incredible mids. Listening to the song "You know how we do it" by Ice Cube was absolutely stunning with this N3AP. I'm really curious how these compare with the OSV3 because I was thinking of getting it at some point. I'm looking forward to a hybrid competition haha!

Thanks for the review! I have them since 2 years and had no problem with MMCX connectors when messing around with cables. Very solid IEM. The cable is sub-par. I use a Final Audio silver 3.5mm cable with premium MMCX and the JVC Spiral Dots M tips. With these tips, treble has more air while the mids keep their magic. Amazing value at USD 250.-
@Dani-zg7fr4 жыл бұрын
Yep. Using jvc spiral dot++ my n3ap sounds best.

Glad you reviewed these. Had the Sony XBA-A3. Those were great. The N3 almost hits the harman curve almost perfectly. Sony has invested into their own BA tech and it’s paying off. I also like the DF curve as it works amazing for binaural audio and reference recordings. Etymotic ER4SR is one of the most realistic. Bass will sound weak to some but is accurate to what we hear - just won’t emulate what we feel.
@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews5 жыл бұрын
I shoulda got these sooner. I want to find a good cable that allows me to use hooks. If find one of my customs does that i will use these a lot
@malfunkt5 жыл бұрын
These use MMCX right? If I get the N3, I'll use the extra set of over ear hooks that came with my XBA-A3. Sadly, that's all I have left of it after losing it bike riding. ::facepalm:: btw - check out Crinnacle's measurements and reviews. www.reddit.com/r/inearfidelity/comments/9znd1r/sony_xban3ap/ The guy has put some effort into his measurement rig. Seems to be quite accurate. Scoring high on his list are a number of your own favorites including the EX1000 and 7550/800ST. It's still a subjective list, but its always good to see why others may or may not like certain presentations - and if there can be some objective basis. btw - thanks for introducing me to the 630VB, still really enjoy that one. It seems to sound its best when you are out and about. I also recently got a TH-X00, which was initially a bit harsh. Have warmed up to it, its a fun can and the bass is incredible. Still the 630VB, while not as visceral in the bass, is ultimately cleaner in the rest of spectrum.

I've had this for 2 years already and changed the cable to the 4.4mm cable by Sony and they were great for me considering it was my first "audiophile" gear even with the stock 3.5mm it came with. I got the 4.4mm balanced cable because I decided to get the ZX300 based off of your review and it is great. Keep up the good work. Everyone's sound preferences will still be different from one another but having another impression from someone like you is great reference for buyers like me who went in the game kinda blindly. So thank you so much for the reviews and impressions even if it will greatly differ from person to person.

I love these so much that I bought 3 pairs. 1) I lost the left one cause it fell off the MMCX cable in Shibuya somewhere. 2) I bought a replacement pair. 3) I bought another pair to have as I was moving out of Japan (still NIB in the plastic). These blow the shit out of my prior daily drivers, the Senn IE8 and later the IE80s, in terms of clarity and bass response. I also own the Sony EX1000s and Z5s which are objectively more analytic, but the N3s have a way more fun, "in your face" sound signature. Compared to those two, the thing that does it for me and makes it the ideal daily driver is that they go into your ear without any upheaval and tangling of having an 'over the ear' molded cable. They are also tanks in terms of durability. As a headphone addict, and in the pursuit of better and a better, honestly I'm not sure I will find another IEM that does the V-shaped sound signature as these do.

But single voice it sounded like was a bit of reverb and some harmonizer ,2 voices one deep and other natural and I was wondering . How is that possible for a voice to sound so good and real in this iem when the rest is average . So now I am a sony person because with that voice tone. I am there

Adding onto that comment of latest isn't always greatest, I think that a better or equal evaluation of somethings greatness is its impact relative to its time. Latest being greater is an inheritance of progression, it benefits from current tech, although sometimes it's a step backwards, or the greatness relative to its time isn't on par with its predecessor.

Smooth through entire mids. I think Magnesium BA takes over only at 6 to 8 k. Rest done by 9mm dynamic. Highs sound almost the same as Z5. Wider range ba. Agree that vocals are delicious on this one. Isolation below average but better than other Sony hybrids and better than DMG. Good Sony house sub bass. Above average stage. Trebble completely devoid of sibilance. Good for bright recordings.
