Glad that Sony is keeping the features I love, considering LG has left the phone market. I'm also hoping this means a price drop on Xperia 1 III. The one mildly annoying thing is knowing about the Thermal Issues as I drive for a living, so phone is on the window sort of on a holder while I do deliveries and can cause some running heat.

Love what they did here. Incremental updates where needed (brighter screen, battery, selfie cam, 512GB standard), and some cool improvements (variable optical zoom on the telephoto, VideoPro added, new Music pro). People will whine about TOO FEW MEGAPIXELS! Lol, but I'm all for rocking the 12MP and having *super* fast continuous shooting frame rates and write speeds, and don't overlook that lower MP count allows for much larger pixels on the sensor, and the associated low light advantages that come with it. And they kept all the great stuff (3.5mm, expandable memory, physical dualSIM, no damn notch, etc.). So overall a great device, *but* not quite sure it's worth an upgrade from my Xperia 1 III at $1,600 plus no high speed charger in box.

I am pretty sure the reason people are "disappointed" by the xperia iV is simply because of how good the previous phones were. Sony phones already had a lot of features, there's only so much Sony can do now, as it's difficult to further "complete" an already complete package. Great preview. Sony have come a long way since the original Xperia 1. They are doing incremental updates where they are needed. The fact that all the imaging sensors are Exmor RS types means fast readout which is great for photography and videos. The question is would Sony dare incorporate their audio technology from their Walkman series in future Xperia models? Glad that Sony is sticking with the headphone jack, micro SD expandability, and no punch hole in the screen. This would be a nice upgrade from my Xperia 5ii (although the 5ii is still working very well). Are Sony still sticking with 2 years of updates or has that now been increased?

No active pen support I can find. You can add other apps as "games", but not all apps. I can't add camera apps for example. My unit was a prototype, so I can't comment on radio bands and carrier support, but it was a champ on my WiFi6 router.

You know that it's a true 'pro' smartphone when Sony uses the specific details about the periscope zoom camera's range for marketing instead of using some basic "3x, 5x, 10x" terms or whatever to make it sound revolutionary. It's a real professional-use device when Sony states the specific details of its product in the forefront without the need to do more research about it.

Really good set of information compared to the few I watched prior. None of them mentioned the music feature and that's just one of several examples, but also fair, since you couldn't demo it yet.

I know it's a long shot... But what do you think of xperia 1 IV vs pro I? Was leaning towards pro I considering the discounts right now.

Do you know if Sony updated the ability to shoot in RAW while in BURST mode? I have the Xperia 5ii and it will only allow jpeg while in burst mode...

I wouldn't bet on it

what's your usual audio processing app in phone juan? does it have Truncate Silence function like the one in audacity?
@SomeGadgetGuy2 жыл бұрын
I use audio evolution, but it doesn't have one auto silence tool like audacity (at least i don't think it does). I just ripple cut. Mostly use it for podcasts though, so it hasn't been TOO bad compared to desktop editing.
@ericfernando42962 жыл бұрын
@@SomeGadgetGuy i see, i tend to like to remove silent parts especially if the podcast is over 1 hour, but i guess for shorter podcast it's enough

i wonder if i should wait for black friday to grab a mark4 or just preorder it now and get the earphones which i dont really need. I guess the pre-order bundle counts as a "black friday" like discount.

It's still blowing my mind that I pre-ordered this in may and I'm waiting on a September release date 🥴

Juan, Thank you for the realness of your review. I almost bought the Pro i. How does this compare.

I wonder how well Gcam works on it?

Nice review. Sony keeps at least for my point of view the necessary hardware. So which one to pick 5 III, 1 IV, or pro 1? What do you think for a video/photography purpose? Thanks
