Elias well specs are similar only difference is the 0.2ghz faster cpu on the z3 and both now have the same android version with the same sony UI. both feature a 20.7 camera and did you not understand what he said. he said the camera are quite similar when on the same display and not much of a difference and that the z2 was slightly better.

trust me, the z2 is better built than Z3, the screen breaks way too easy and the price of the lcd is alot more. Z2 is a shatterproof, dropped it few times and it didn't break but tho i tried using it in the water, broke the lcd because i was careless that the phone can't hold 3 feet underwater. The processor speed doesn't really make any difference, both are same level of speed. And yeah, compare both's cameras, z2 is owning z3's camera. I have both of them and I guarantee you z2 will not disappoint you.

I am a happy user of SONY Xperia since 8 years or so. Long time ago when i was upgrading my Xperia Z i made sure that i opt the right one in terms of quality, performance, look, value for money and all as mush as possible. I dont just keep changing as soon as new model of the same series comes in the market. I wait until there is some logical reason to do that. I choose Z2 on Z3 and i am still very happy with my decision. Now as we all know Z3 Plus and Z5 are in the market its the time to go for Z5. Z5 looks strong in terms of performance and just to give myself a change after couple of years. But i still believe that the price in my country is still high for Z5 i might have to wait for another months before i take Z5. I am sorry for the long explanation but i think it might help some sensible people around the world. Thanks Sony and PhoneDog.

Z3 costs up to 2 times more. I love Sony, but I hate their laziness and greed. If you want more money - work for it. I ain't buying your Z3 because you haven't put enough effort into it. I urge you to do the same and opt for z2 to show them your disapproval of making money from air.

just upgraded from an iphone 5 to a Z2 and I love it, the most annoying thing is the side flaps that are for waterproofing, they feel super flimsy and fell as if they will rip off from over use, which is unenviable because I charge the phone daily and also plug in my ps3 controller from time to time to play some games.

Sold on the Z2!... Pulled a trigger just last week after extensive research in comparison with Z3. The camera and video quality on the Z2 is a bit better imho. Judging by Z3s' higher IP rating - you can't really tell the difference. Z3s' spec of 2.5ghz vs 2.3ghz on Z2 is just sounds faster on paper but no way to tell the difference. Overall, to me Z2 is perfect and thus, is a bit cheaper to get nowadays considering it debuted 6 months prior to the release of Z3 and still packs a punch with no compromise on performance and build quality.

I could have got the Z3 when I upgraded my phone last year, but I wanted the Purple Z2. The buttons are not flimsy. They don't do flimsy on phones that cost over £400 retail. Especially if they've gone to make the phones waterproof and dustproof. I'm happy with my Z2, but I really loved my Xperia T which was simpler, but worked very well.

I bought the z2 last yr immediately after its for sale, I fall in love with the camera immediately ( used htc M7 before ), the colour is just lovely, so much more details and the picture feels very lively! And once the z3 came out I immediately sell my z2 for a new z3. The whole white body and white front is just too hard to resist! After start using I instantly notice the pictures out from z3 somehow is not as good as in z2 from what I experience, Im a real estate agent taking apartment photos mainly, similar photos everyday, although the wide angle lens let me capture more space into the picture, which is very nice for my work, but the colour produced is just not as rich and vibrant as z2!! Occasionally its looks wash out, I can see in pic the object has sharper and clear edge, but if Im not in good lighting situation, it just not as good!! Anyone feels the same?

I have had a Z2 for over two years, so has my wife, I love the phone, it does everything I want and more..except, mine has always had problems, it sometimes 'phantom dials' people in my contacts, not often, but it does happen and I hear someone saying "hello" from inside my pocket. I started up on the '3' network and being as I was going to the USA (from UK) it made a lot of sense as I don't get charged for roaming whilst being out of the country.In Feb 2017, my contract with 3 was up, they didn't offer me any incentive to stay with them, if fact, they tired to put the contract price up, so we both changed to EE.My wife's phone was fine, it worked right away with the new EE sim, mine didn't, then one day, and many hours of head scratching, and just after I had bought a replacement (cheap) phone, it suddenly sprung into life, I have been using it as a GPS for map my walk, so I was using it still, no idea why it worked again (on EE) but happy days.We went back to USA in May this year, I turned off roaming, it would have cost a fortune, so only used it when we had wifi.Got back to UK, the phone would not recognise the EE sim, the network pages are greyed out, so am unable to alter anything.Tried a Giff gaff sim to see if that would unlock it, tried my wife's EE sim, neither worked.Yesterday, I put in a '3' payg sim to see if that would unlock it...nope, everything still greyed out, have taken it back to factory setting many many times.I am tired of the iPhone I am being forced to use, it is nowhere near as good as my Z2.I have just bought a used Z3 off Ebay in sheer desperation, it hasn't arrived yet, but will put an update on here when I have used it for a while, meanwhile, the iPhone will go on Ebay and I will use the Z2 for GPS and it's camera, if the Z3 is not as goodTo be continued..........

Ahmed Hossam i have had both and theres actually almost no different but as for the iphone, after sometime your phone cant update anymore and so the z3 will be able to update more. i think you should buy the z2 though, because its cheapers and theres really no difference

Cam Bunton I bought the Xperia Z3 and used it for a month or so before accidentally scuffing up one of the plastic corner pretty bad. I decided then to get the Z2 and I must say, after using this device, Cam's comparison of these phones is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! The camera on the Z2 is better than the Z3 as it can produce much saturated colors with sharper close up images. Plus I think the shutter button on the Z2 is better as well. I do miss the smaller more compact design with noticeably better screen though. And in my opinion the Z3 had better battery life and performed a tiny bit faster as well! But overall I think both are amazing phones! If had money I would get the Z3 again just for the screen and the thinner design (it feels really thin). But the camera optics are better on the Z2 in my opinion (I take a LOT of pictures). And the design of the phone, speaker grills with the notification light look much classier on this one. I'd really prefer a better raw camera performance all day over a slightly better display. No other feature can replace a camera that works well in low light / difficult light situations (which everyone will encover plenty with a smartphone). It 's just like Sony follows in the Footsteps of Samsung ... the S2 Camera was magnificent in Low Light but the S5 Camera is a Hell Sent for any Low Light or even difficult Light situation - and that is even with manual settings and focus.

this all comes down to if you take alot of pictures etc when i got a upgrade back in june i went for the z2 even though i preferred the htc one m8 design mainly due to the camera. the camera on the m8 is ok but it isnt the best when compared to other flagship devices. if your after a good camera as well then the z3 plus its waterproof but if waterproof and a camera doesnt matter then a m8 would be good for you

With 4K video recording it warns you beforehand on the Z3 that it may overheat and shut the camera down to prevent damage. It does get a little warm in gameplay. need to test further.

well...i can give u some names that are being compared to the z2 and z3 HTC one M8 LG G3 Iphone 6 and 6+ now u did mention u don't want samsung but i will say this anywhere samsung galaxy S5 and Note 4 are not that bad and these are some names that aren't really well known but im hearing really good about them Oppo N1 and Find 7 Oneplus one now just because i love these phones nokia lumia 930 / 1020 / 1520 are not bad at all if u can settle for windows hope this helped.. ^_^

I noticed you said the lowlight in the Z2 was better. I thought the wider lens; to allow more light, and the ISO lowlight 12800 "upgrade" was ment to make the Z3 the "ultimate lowlight" shooter.

because he didn't use manual mode.. automode on sony is not consistent.. so if you want best shots, go to manual and do all the tweaks.. that is where it shines

I think the camera is a software/firmware thing that could be fixed with an update. I'm going to try a different camera app to see if the same difference is there.

Please turn on Super-vivid mode on z2 and you ll get the same saturation like on z3! Love my Z2, but it is gonna be the last phone that gets lollipop...that sucks

Hey there! First of all, nice review! I´m thinking about buying a new phone. Currently I have a Moto X first generation, and I´m in a seriously doubt about which phone to buy. My first thought was to buy the Sony xperia M4 aqua. But then, I saw the Z2 and, despite being older, it seemed much better! And now there is the Z3, that apparently has got nothing to add to Z2. S5 only has 2gb ram and is a bit overpriced. I would say z2 is your best option but also looks at lg G4 and Moto X style

I don't like the external button positioning. What I liked about my iphone was that it was easy to lock the phone or hit back or put the volume up (when not looking at it) on this it's a pain. Good phone though. Like Camera button.
