It would have been useful if you showed how the video looked from the ZV-1. The FT call was cool but it did not show the quality of the stream!

Hello Jay. Is the camera running on USB C power when used as a webcam or is it using the battery? Just wondering if I'll need an adapter when using this while traveling as a webcam.

my ZV-1 omly has a mini usb and mini hdmi output, so i assume i have an older version?

Well the ZV1 has a larger sensor, so in theory that has the potential to provide better quality... However, the ZV1 is limited to 720p when using the USB cable and the Elgato face pro does 4k and the HD version does 1080... If you were to use the HDMI out for the ZV1 and a HDMI to USB device you could get better quality with the ZV1 II, but with more effort, parts, and time. Just using the USB it's going to be lower res, but still a larger sensor, better lens on the ZV1...

Great info, this really helped. My question is how to remove the menu watermark once plugged in. I'm using a HDMI Capture Card into StreamYards and everything looks great, but the menu is appearing on the screen. Do you have any recommendations?

HDMI Display Info: MENU → (Setup) → [External Output] → [HDMI Info. Display] → OFF

Is there also a camera where you don't have to turn on the camera unplug the usb camera navigate to the streaming option and select put the cable back in but one that you setup once, and you can just turn of your pc + camera, leave the usb C cable in the device and next time when you turn on your pc, it will automaticly start from this setting?

Will this need a dummy battery like the old Sony EV-10 for longer stream purposes? Or did the new on have a feature where it chargers internally with the USB Type C cord?

You can charge using the USB-C yes, but you need that if using as a web camera... If however you are using the HDMI out, then yeah that will work great with no dummy battery.

Is the sound quality good for when you stream live? I will use it quite a bit for zoom calls. I did not want to experience the voice sync issuse i see a lot of people have whem using the zv1 with a usb mic or something. I hope you make guides for this camera mime is arriving in a couple weeks

Yes the on camera audio is good enough for Zoom calls for sure, and it will have no sync issues if you use that. Also, you can use an external mic plugged into the camera mic port, and that will also work. I have links in the descriptions to mics I tested that work great!

Do you know if there's any way to get the USB to stream at a higher rate? I've been trying to use the USB stream to record my videos, I didn't realize that it was recording in low quality.

HD720 is the best quality for this camera.... You can use the HDMI output to a camlink or something like that for better quality if you want though, but it's not as turn key easy... The format of the streaming data on ZV1M2 is as follows. Video format: MJPEG Resolution: HD720 (1280×720) Frame rate: 30 fps / 25 fps Audio format: LPCM, 48 kHz, 16 bit, 2 ch

Can it work with LUTs in webcam mode? Also I heard it’s only 720p? So I can’t really stream high quality with it and I have to got more expensive cameras?

It is locked down in streaming mode as far as I can tell Alex. You can use the HDMI out with a Cam link: geni.us/6aodP for streaming at higher quality if you want..

Is there anyway to have to stream at 60fps? Sometimes I screen share my videos and record and 60fps just looks infinitely better but it won’t let me change it when using as a webcam :(

No you can't do that with this camera while USB streaming: The format of the streaming data is as follows. Video format: MJPEG Resolution: HD720 (1280×720) Frame rate: 30 fps / 25 fps Audio format: LPCM, 48 kHz, 16 bit, 2 ch Even if you use the the HDMI Out and stream with another device the camera is stuck at 30p as the highest frame rate...

I just bought this camera to substitute my current Oppo Find x2 Pro (which's been working as webcam). I got this camera to use it as a webcam and for vlogging. The thing is that I just tried the USB Streaming mode and the quality is disgusting. It's quite worse than my current Oppo Find X2 Pro and when I recorded the screen just to see what it was like, I seemed to be using something like a green background because my image was blurry and kinda pixelated. Could it be maybe because of the cable which is not a top-notch one and it's plugged to another usb cable (so I get the right length xD)? Will it improve if I use an external capture HDMI device like AVerMedia Live Gamer MINI GC311? Thanks in advance,

I had to use zoom for the first time today, and have the same camera. I was also using a headset. Every thing worked fine till I had to go to the meeting. My camera wouldn't show, up and my mic wouldn't work if I went into the meeting. What am I doing wrong.

i heard its because of the USB connection, should work better with the HMDI route

Thank you for the content! I just hooked up the ZV-1 Mark 2 using Ecamm Live and direct usb but the camera keeps shutting off during streaming. Have you heard of this happening? I’m using three cameras canon 60D, xf100 and the ZV-1 M2. I’d love to solve and upgrade to the new M2 for multiple shooting. Thanks in advance!

Shutting off? No I did not have this problem and it worked for well over an hour when I tested it with a usb-c cable plugged into the camera and my laptop.
