For short, for a manual focusing in manual mode (essential for night pictures), do as next : Place your Sony on a tripod. and swich on your Sony. 1° press Mode button, and select M (Manual), 2°. Press button Fn (function). A grid appear at bottom of screen with 12 boxes. Select MF (manual focus), then Manual Focusing. At that's all. Now press the central big knob/dial to ensure the focusing. Depress partly the photo trigger, a thick line appear with the focusing lift from closeup to infinity. With the dial move the lift to the right and infinity. One done, take a picture. And even several to stack later e.g. using Sequator software. NB. In case of light pollution, an Optolong L-pro filter is welcome as it slaloms between artificial lights emission lines to only transmit light from the sky.

What lens did you try on the E10? How was it? Better than the ZV1? Cuz the more lens options?
@supreme4023Ай бұрын
@@macaroni.ravioli Def better than ZV1 but I actually forgot why I commented. If for astrophoto, I didn't have luck as I am in NYC I was just able to shoot some small starts and satellites that's it. For lens I only got the kit lens and Sigma 30mm F1.4

Brilliant! Thank you very much for this. It may be a way forward for me as the iphone 16 pro is so unreliable - I dont even need a smartphone & don't like Google snooping on me so much, but until this video, couldn't find an affordable alternative for astro! If you know of any alternative compact cameras I could consider please shoot !

The lens IS 9mm at the wide end! It's a 24mm "equivalent", its a 1" sensor don't forget, so you have to take crop factor into account
@bnegative3442 жыл бұрын
True, the same story is with RX100
@kevinsim151410 ай бұрын
It's a 2.7 crop factor. But according to the "Spot Star" calculator on Photopills, using the 500 rule, it's 21 seconds at 24mm equivalent. So Shane is actually spot on!
@soundworksvectra9 ай бұрын
The zv1 was just marketed wrong imo. It was never good as a vlog camera but is quite capable as a mini portable stills camera. It shoots photos with just a bit more character and a "camera look" than most phones but doesn't break the bank if you're not in the market for a proper mirrorless

Rule of 500 is for full frame equivalent, with aps-c or smaller android stuff will be smaller too. Aps-c is usually 300. So it’s rule of 300 for smaller frames

Enjoyed the video tutorial. With as much post-production and eye for adjustments are required, those who try to preach camera perfection should really just stop :) I shoot APSC (Fuji) and type 1 (RX100 and ZV1) and would love to try a little Astro. I live in the eastern US, so light pollution is fierce. Once of these days when I travel out west again ... thx again.

@zachcobbs93 Жыл бұрын
The 500 rule is generally good unless there’s wind. However, you have to take the sensor size into account, with a crop sensor of the zv1 there is a 1.5x crop so if your shooting a 24mm lens the “full frame equivalent” is 36mm so divide 500/36 to get just under 14sec. The reason 500 rule works on mobile phones is that they are given the full frame equivalent focal length rather than there true focal lengths so basically added to crop factor for you. Further more, cameras like micro 4/3 such as the Olympus OM have a 2x crop on the focal length. Other ways to get sharp stars is to shoot in silent mode and set a timer on the camera rather than hit the shutter button and always have a solid tripod.
@Larsenvlogs Жыл бұрын
The Sony VZ1 II (mark 2) this is camera's more recent model has a 18mm focal length and from what I read the same sensor as the VZ1. Does that mean my working focal length is 27 (x1.5) and my max shooting time is 18.5 (500/27) seconds? I'm going to be shooting some low light stars and hopefully Aurora in Iceland next week.

Rule of 500 is not very good with modern digital cameras. Photopills always gives you both Rule of 500 and the more technical NPF Rule for Spot Stars. NPF is about 60% exposure time of Rule of 500. Still, well done.
