I dropped my Canon G7X into a glass of lemonade at the start of my last 30 day roadrip in my new Corvette C8. So, when I returned, I picked this camera up used for 300 bucks, virtually brand new. Thanks for the great video....liked and subscribed. RAW is not necessary unless you really need to push the limits, Every photo I've sold in the past ten years was edited from JPGs.

The background defocus of the Sony is actually completely different from the iPhones portrait mode. Portrait mode is done on software while the background defocus is a real bokeh from the lens and will look much more natural. It's basically just forcing f2.0 if enabled and can be used on any camera in a similar way.

Jep, you are absolutely right! Its the Force of F2.0 "whatever it takes". In the ZV1 is the same Mode better, cause of the f.18 aparture. Today the ZV1f is on amazone prime sale for 429 Euro instead of 520. i bought it and now im waiting for tommorrow :-D

Important distinction, for those shopping these days when the newer iPhones have 48MP sensors - Sensor resolution does not equate to resolved detail. The most a cellphone camera can conceivable resolve is around 20MP, any higher, it's just wasted pixels. The only area it helps is digital zoom where the lack of aliasing helps to extract more detail from a small area of the sensor. Still not a crazy high resolution like it claims to be, but it's better than a straight crop. Dedicated cameras like the ZV1F often have lenses capable of resolving atleast the sensor resolution, possibly more depending on how over engineered it is.

My only knock against this phone is them removing the side inserts for a neck strap. I want a basic camera at a low price but the lack of neck band ability is making me consider the E10.

for all-around video purpose, i recommend the zv-e10. but i will be saving for this zv-1f for selfie-style and talking-head vlogging since it's smaller and quicker to set-up and use. but for b-rolls, there is a noticeable jittery effect. but for selfie and talking head vlogging, this (zv-1f) i think is the best for the budget (again, not for b-rolls though).

the background defocus blur of the zv1f isn't a digital blur .. its basically changing the aperture from auto to fixed f/2.0 ... you can notice this on dark environments especially if you set your shutter and iso as the same. what the camera does is shift to the widest aperture end. no software trickery involved

Now I have ANOTHER camera to consider. I'm a travel vlogger and needing to upgrade. I was torn between the ZVE10, ZV1 or the new DJI Action 3. I'm looking for easy portability, external mic support and great 4k and slowmo . It's so hard to decide.

I think thats exactly why sony made the Sony zv1-f. If you want something very casual its a great fit. However the zve10 would have the advantage of being able to switch lenses. I recommend checking out my other video on r10 vs zve10 vs nikon z30. Those are great cameras as well for vloggers and travellers

It does NOT have a 1 inch sensor. It is 13.2 mm by 8.8 mm. So, a2 + b2 = c2, C being the hypotenuse. Like how tv screens are measured. 13.2 x 13.2 = 174.24. 8.8 x 8.8 = 77.44 174.24 + 77.44 = 251.68 mm square root of 251.68 is 15.86 mm. the hypotenuse. One inch is 25.4 mm, not 15.86 mm I WISH it was a 1 inch sensor. I have this camera. Its great, almost TOO small. Sony website says 1 type. 1 type?? They did not say 1 inch. har har! Very Good video though.

Thanks for noticing. its my whoop strap, i use it to monitor my heart rate and sleep. I find my schedule is very chaotic with youtube and being a film maker. This tool helps me keep on top of my sleep and see how my body is doing

Why Sony removed from this new model the effective stabilization of the Zv-1 and why it removed phase detection, opting only for contrast detection, and finally, why Sony betting on a 20mm fixed lens, got worse your aperture, from f/1.8 that the Zv-1 had to f/2 this Zv-1 F ? Why didn't they set it to an aperture of f/1.4 since it's now a fixed focal length?

It seems good but tbh the portait mode on the s23 is a much better device than the iPhone esp with edge feathering and focus, only issue is it doesn't detect objects, only faces and animals which a normal camera like this will Trump it at, hard pick !

As a dancer, I record all my videos with my smartphone camera, but the video quality is not where I wanted it to be because I crop the frame in order to track the motion which comes at the expense of quality. I'm really interested in the camera, do you think I should go for it ?

This would be a bad fit for you. You should get a proper mirrorless camera. Look into a sony or canon mirrorless. For your budget i think the sony a6400 or canon r50 would be a good bet.

oh adding an extra microphone is always worth it. It just depend son how clean you want the audio. If you want your audio to be 10/ 10 then yes add a wireless or a wired mic

This camera aims at weight, but the weight of the tripod is so heavy, I would only use the 160g smartphone tripod, do you think the tripod can hold the zv-1f?

I would not recommend this for photographers because you will want raw photos. Consider a camera with an interchangeable lens. Like the sony a6100, a6600 or the canon r10

Why cmpare a camera to a phone? And why an iPhone that might not even compare to the Samsung S22 Ultra with optical zoom? Compare it to other vlogging cameras. That´s what most people do when they "watch before you buy".Also, what did you use for the main recording? Picture and sound is actually fairly low quality.. is that really ZV-1F???

The biggest problem all these cameras face is that they're 4K at most while many phones are offering 8K already. I mean the camera has one task to be built for and that's capturing images, they ought to at least be keeping up with modern resolutions. This is why many people are opting to produce content solely from their phones now. The phone has 8k and its easier to stream from. Its also easier to bring with you and the quality is good enough for most content. You can also boast 8K resolution at a reasonable price. 8K cameras are insanely overpriced. The camera makers have to do something to bring current resolution to the market at an affordable price that might convince people to opt for the camera over instead investing the camera money along with their cellphone money to get an excellent cellphone at a still cheaper price than many cameras. Cameras are simply pricing themselves out of the market and driving customers away.
