That’s the problem with EIS, you need to have minimum 1/100th for 25p, ideally 1/200th it’s the same with any electronic stabilisation whether it’s an Insta360, GoPro, iphone, or this. That wobble is shocking! Plus the contrast only AF is a huge loss.

Sadly, I came to similar conclusions. So which Sony camera should I buy then for vlogging?! They all seem to have a deal breaker! - ZV-1F: No Phase detect AF, no optical OS - ZV-1: Not wide enough with active stabilisation - ZV-E10: Years old sensor from 6xxx line - just not great, even in S-Log - RX100 VII: Same minimum zoom as ZV-1 and same crop with stabilization I believe. It's a puzzler indeed!

@@alsifjlasieflooohonestly none of them are ideal vlogging cameras. If I had to choose I would go with the Z-V1 and just get a slightly longer grip/ mini tripod for it as it’s so tight with everything on. The ZvE10 has atrocious rolling shutter and a HUGE stabilisation crop.

The ZV-1 just doesn't make go "This is the one! I need her now!" This camera is testing KZbin influencers integrity: should they sugar-glaze the shortcomings and not risk being excluded from new product launches in the future; or should they just state the obvious. 3 things are needed for vloggers: reliable Auto Focus, reliable image stabilisation, wide angle lens. Well, we got wide angle lens. Wow Sony.

20MP, 16fps stills, 4K 30, 2" focus distance, articulated screen... Actually seems like a pretty decent package. But with the larger sensor, higher res, E-mount ZV-E10 available for $800, I would have liked to see the price a little lower, maybe around $400, or even just down to $450.

Unless the lens is rugged enough to go in your pocket without the lens cap, having to put a lens cap makes it less user friendly compared to the ZV-1.

Thanks for the review, but it does not have S-Log3, only 2, but then again it is 8bit video with a moderate bitrate. It is the same sensor and technology Sony has been squeezing since 2015 and the days of the RX100 IV, though with an improved color science.

this camera is for beginner level / entry level vloggers. I got this one for its simplicity, withdraw from my small bag and start recording with decent videos. (I got this around $500 along with the Sony tripod).

It'd be nice if there was some trick like much better stabilisation when you use that silly little zoom. Built-in ND would make some of that video look a bit more premium. As is, it doesn't give enough of a better-than-smartphone feel for me.

Why Sony removed from this new model the effective stabilization of the Zv-1 and why it removed phase detection, opting only for contrast detection, and finally, why Sony betting on a 20mm fixed lens, got worse your aperture, from f/1.8 that the Zv-1 had to f/2 this Zv-1 F ? Why didn't they set it to an aperture of f/1.4 since it's now a fixed focal length?

Close but still no cigar on this one from Sony. I don't quite understand why they are struggling to make the Vlogging camera people want. People let them know all the time but they aren't making what people are asking for. Plus removing the Action Camera from production is bizarre. They had the best OIS action cam in the market (Or only OIS camera) in the X3000 and they canned it! The most popular IRL streaming camera and it's gone.

I like the concept, but odd choices by Sony. Contrast based AF and what looks like a slow read-out sensor plus no lens stabilization makes it not super appealing for vlogging over a recent smartphone.

I don't know where to put this in a kit. Pros wouldn't need it, and it's very limiting for beginners. I'd only recommend this to a very casual photographer who want something relatively cheap, with good quality, and compact at the same time. Other than that, I'd recommend something else for sure.
