I'm planning on getting a dji gimbal for my ZV-E1, since dynamic active is decent out on hikes or trips where I don't want to lug extra gear, but I think a gimbal would give better quality for shoots where gear size & weight is not so limited. Really good video & I could tell which was the gimbal straight away! It made me more confident with the decision to buy.

I can agree. The dynamic steady shot does a good job in certain scenarios, but it can not compete with a gimbal in tough situations..

It was fun shooting the video, but the outcome turned out so much better than I imagined! Although it was really hard for me to keep up with you on the professionally side of work haha ;)

absolutely beautiful quality of video, thanks for review! I really like how active stab works on zv-e1 actually 🙂

Can Sony’s Dynamic Active SteadyShot really outshine DJI’s gimbals? Or is software stabilization not quite there yet? Let us know, what you think!

Super Video Ferdinand 👏 ich nutze die ZVE1 meistens ohne gimbal im dynamic active steady shot 👍🏻 muß es aber mal wieder mit meinem Crane versuchen 😅 ja ich hab natürlich A+B erkannt 😉 best cinematic greetings from germany

I have the ZVE1, think the Dynamic Active Stab. is jerky and very inconsistent. Sometimes it jerks in shots with very simple movement.
@captainfilmmaking3 ай бұрын
Yes, it clearly has its limitations and doesn’t prevent the cam-operator to move smoothly.. Are you using a gimbal too with the ZV-E1?

is it usuable if i work as cut to cut 10 to 15 seconds clips

That should be fine, as long as you do not do it while the camera is in direct sunlight on a hot day.

need more info on zv e1 for 4k recording & overheating
@captainfilmmaking2 ай бұрын
hi, the overheating is a complex topic and depends on a couple of parameters like, outside temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, wind/air movement, frame rates, rig-configuration etc. So in the end you have to be very conscious about your own shooting scenario, to determine, if it will work out for you. What I have done, is that I use an active cooling unit from Tilta as a backup. It's a bit of a workaround, but I managed to get through a whole day of shooting a wedding in very hot and humid weather, with longer takes in 4K50. The above shoot in the forest (which you see in the video) was also a rather warm day with around 30 degrees Celsius. Here we hadn't the cooling system with us, did rather short bursts of around 30sek. or 1min takes in 4K50 and the ZV-E1 did great. No overheating or temperature warning.

@africah_beauty The quality is very impressive. 40min continuous shooting with 4K60 all-I could be challenging in warm weather. As a backup there are cooling solutions from Tilta and Smallrig available. I did a wedding yesterday in 33degree celsius and I did ok.

I use ZVE1 for everything. Dynamic active is useless and croping too much, Active + postpro is enought for handheld. For movement I use gimbal, but thats maybe 10% of everything? At least for weddings
@captainfilmmaking3 ай бұрын
@@martin.prazan yes, that’s exactly the outcome of my testing. If it’s bright enough you can get away with it.. but when the light isn’t sufficient, the increased noise level is quite noticeable.
@whatthefitt17 күн бұрын
Why not get a wider lens?
@captainfilmmaking17 күн бұрын
You mean because of the cropping? The point is, irrespective of the focal length you loose resolution and image quality and increase noise due to the cropping.
@whatthefitt17 күн бұрын
@@captainfilmmaking Yes. I have a sony zv-e1 and thinking of getting the laowa 10mm f2.8 for real estate shooting. Many apartments in my country are really tiny. And I dislike using gimbals.. so with the dynamic active stabilisation, it provides gimbal like stabilisation and a view of about 13mm - how much resolution and image quality degrading do you think there is?
@captainfilmmaking17 күн бұрын
I do real estate too. If it’s not too bright - and in real estate it often isn’t that bright - you’ll notice a degrade in image quality and an increased level of noise. You maybe can get away without a gimbal, but I do quite a bit of movement (long push ins by walking through a room etc.). According to my testing, the gimbal is much superior in those shooting scenarios - and the image quality is better to. I shoot with the SONY12-24 f4G btw.
