I love how much these folding phones have advanced over the years but I tried the original Galaxy fold and Z flip and I will say folding phones still make zero sense for me to use. The folding nature is an inherent distraction of the device and I'm always deciding which screen to use, objectively the larger screen is what you want to always use. Since bigger screen equals more immersion. Why manufactures keep increasing the size of the front display is beyond me, the point of it is to use it as a window for information when both hands aren't available to use. Ideally the original Galaxy fold and z flip executed this idea perfectly. The interior displays being primarily a top layer of ultra soft and deformable polymer plastic still leaves much to be desired. I don't want to fear leaving scratches on my phone due to my fingernails, while my z fold and flip I used for well over a year only had a few light scratches, they wouldn't of had any If the display was solid glass. Cornings ultra thin willow glass has been available and is the solution to this problem, why Samsung hasn't tried using it is beyond me, it would also eliminate the crease.

@@leemosey it looks like just the flip is coming to the UK. The Chinese version works with most apps and services, though Android Auto, WearOS and some other features are unlikely to work.

Frustratingly it isn't standardized. So phones typically don't include the camera bump which isn't right from my perspective. What do you think?

Great video! Does it have the B20 band? I imported the Xiaomi 13 Ultra last year, great phone - loved every bit of it but the B20 band was missing and that was a deal-breaker in terms of connectivity where i live.

Yes, it supports B20 - the phone is already available at Trading Shenzhen, only Android Auto will not work

Be aware that due to the 'tensor' chip google uses, some emulators, notably those more powerful than dreamcast, will run so slow as to be unusuable, because emulators are developed with qualcomm chipset in mind. Therefore for me (I love to use citra 3ds emulator), Fold/fold2 is a definite no

Nice, entertaining and informative video. People need to be cautious about the kind of compromises required to get this phone. Installing apks is sick in this insecure world. Not sure if data is being sent to China via which apk.

Chinese OEMs really need to adopt the under display camera on the inner display rather than a hole punch. That's the best thing about the Z Fold in actual use - an uninterrupted inner canvas. I love the composite back. Is it actual aramid fibre or just plastic?

Agreed, though I really wish they did what Redmagic does, their UDC is invisible. About the composite material, I don't know to be honest, Xiaomi wasn't too specific with the info they sent me. Thankfully it feels solid though, I'll comment on durability in my full review. Basil

Terrible... Xiamoi took a step back with the 4 version..I like the Xiamoi Mix fold3 better because it has a bigger outer and inner display and the crease is less visible..

Nice to look at, but to own one... no thanks. I'd rather have inferior hardware with better after-sales support, a return policy with a physical store nearby, and an operating system designed to work in my region without the need to tinker than deal with a nightmare if something goes wrong. Besides, foldable and flip phones are still in their infancy, so I'd rather wait. I owned Samsung’s foldable phone from last year, and I didn’t like how smudgy the inner display got after just a few minutes of use. More importantly, the plasticky feel of the inner display and the hinge mechanism seemed too fragile for normal use. Before I forget, it's funny how reviewers cover all aspects of phones but often don't mention call quality. Isn't it called a phone for a reason? A phone first above all else? I never imagined the gaming prowess and photography capabilities of these new phones would trump the importance of call quality. I may be old-fashioned, but photography and gaming on a phone are the least of my concerns. I dislike gacha games and would rather play on consoles and PCs. Ooh, yes, thanks for the review!
