In AFRAID, Curtis (John Cho) and his family are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called AIA. Taking smart home to the next level, once the unit and all its sensors and cameras are installed in their home, AIA seems able to do it all. I honestly like trailers like that because you actually kind of know what the climax will be inside of the inside out 2 trailer where they didn’t even tell us what will happen with Riley and the new characters besides them just “moving in” this trailer has moments in the beginning and the middle. Which is a perfect advertisement. At least to me. But they really didn’t show the entire movie at all. One reason is by: if they did, how did they defeat her/how did it end?

1) You can't experience it if you don't buy and install AI-controlled cameras around your house. 2) AI is far from being as advanced as it's shown in the movies. It's still very flawed and prone to making mistakes. 3) The real horror scenario is phishers and scammers utilizing AI to compromise your privacy, steal data or even highjack it to drain your credit card (if we're talking about AI that is allowed to make purchases from your behalf and has access to your credentials).

My theory is that this movie takes place after the events of the first M3GAN movie in the same universe, seeing as M3GAN can now transfer herself anywhere she wants, she might've likely did so with AIA portraying a similar objective like the way M3GAN did with Cady. Or maybe it could be at the same time as the events of M3GAN 2.0 (even though it's still yet to release). Idk, but it'll be interesting to see what happens.
