Considering that this TV is supposed to outperform the X95L from last year, which was the best mini led on the market, makes me so excited. Pretty much the best last year is now upper mid tier which speaks volumes of how Sony wants to push the quality and performance boundaries, essentially if you can't afford the top tier, you're still getting amazing quality and that's just amazing and why I think Sony is the best TV manufacturer

Hello Larry, thanks for being active in the comments , 2 questions Is the us version only works on 120v or both 120v & 220v ? I might have to move back at the year end. My 50 inch x90j which I bought here in the us ,works both here and back home. Second question, in the comments you mentioned that local dimming performance is on par or exceeds the X95L , would you say that holds true for the 55 inch version? Generally speaking the smaller size has less zones , so to rephrase, will the 55 xr70 be on par or exceeds with 65 x95L in local dimming performance? Much obliged.

It is my pleasure! I know how it is to want questions answered about products I am interested in and it's like a scavenger hunt to get answers. Hopefully I can make a small difference for everyone here. Now to your questions... 1. The TVs are still 120/220v so the only real risk in moving the TV internationally would be PAL vs NTSC, availability or functionality of some apps and the possible need for a plug adapter. All things I am sure you are already familiar with. 2. BRAVIA 7 has a completely different (more advanced) backlight system as I mentioned before. The great thing about it being a hardware piece means that it is present in all sizes of the BRAVIA 7. So YES....even at 55" screen size, the BRAVIA 7 will deliver at or better than X95L. Keep the questions coming and thanks for reaching out! Larry

Great question. I have not had a chance yet to do any testing on the Bravia 7 to compare it with the A80L....but I know that we are continuing to build on gaming support each year. It is not a matte finish but I am hesitant to classify it as glossy because that gives you the thought or highly reflective and shiny. If you are asking if the colors are punchy versus a matte finish...then there is nothing to worry about. Apologies if I guessed wrong.

@mgaming7 Ай бұрын
I don't have one in my town to look at, but the series 7 IS the X95L series but with additional features like Prime calibrated mode etc. If my room was pitch black dark I would 100% go OLED. I have the A80J now. it looks amazing after calibration.
@LARRYfromSONY
@LARRYfromSONY Ай бұрын
Having seen all of these models side by side there is no denying the black level performance and backlight control the Bravia 9 has. If the Bravia 9 is in the discussion....choose it and never look back! However, if you are comparing Bravia 7 and A80L....for a Theater room...I would go Bravia 7, Ambient Optimization Pro 2 toggled to on and allow the TV to auto calibrate to your light condition in your space. OLED is always the default but if you watch content mastered in 2,000 nit HDR grading and watch it on a sub-2,000 nit HDR display....you miss some of the highlights that make content so impactful and immersive. This is why the A95L is such an amazing TV for OLED lovers. With that said, Bravia 7 is a monster and in a light controlled room....wow! Just my 2 cents my friend. I hope this helps! Larry

@@Badcompany2PS5 Close. Bravia 7 is mini-LED (QLED) so I would say it is more X93L/X95L than X90L...plus X90L is continuing for this year as our FALD model. Bravia 9 is in a class by itself. We do not have anything we have ever designed that competes with that TV.

I'm honestly excited for this, I'm more of an LED fan over OLED and this looks to be a high quality TV that I can afford, thank you Sony for this, huge fan of your TVs, always have been. One quick question, probably a dumb question though because I know Sony is known for sticking to creator intent and having a true cinema experience but I'm just curious about the XR Clear, does it know the difference between digital noise vs Film grain? I'm assuming it does, it's the best processor that ive seen but I only ask because I wouldn't want to be watching a film where grain is supposed to be there (random example but Spiderman 2002) and then see the grain scrubbed away when it's part of the picture.

@LARRYfromSONY Ай бұрын
I appreciate all the great praise for our Brand and your excitement for this TV! As for your question... It's a great one. The XR Processor and XR Clear Image first preserve creators intent and correct the unintended elements of compressed content (streaming). Hopefully that helps! Larry

I'd like to ask: 1. Is the Bravia 7's screen, full glossy or semi-glossy? 2. I've read somewhere that Bravia 7 lacks the software feature to boost Peak Luminance, is this true? 3. Is Bravia 7's pricing supposed to follow the X90L original launch MSRP or X93L? 4. If the Bravia 7 is equipped with Mediatek's new Pentonic 1000, why is there still only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports instead of 4? 5. Will PC mode cripple local dimming performance?

@LARRYfromSONY Ай бұрын
Let me see if I can answers these for you my friend. Answer 1. I would categorize it as a semi gloss screen. (thank you for distinguishing between the differences.) Answer 2. Not true. But I understand the confusion. XR Contrast Booster 20 is the technology that boosts the brightness of the display to deliver those highlights and Bravia 7 does have this feature. The confusion is with "High Peak Luminance" tech which is new for this year and the reason the Bravia 9 has XR Contrast Booster 30. Basically it has a added backlight feature that supercharges highlights. Answer 3. I would say more like X93L since X90L will continue for this year as of FALD model. As for pricing strategy throughout the year....I am not allowed in those meetings Answer 4. I hope you can understand that I can't actually answer this one, however, can I ask you a question in return...does that chipset support 4 x HDMI 2.1 ports? Answer 5. Let me follow up on this answer. I think I know but I want to be certain for you. Hopefully this helps a little my friend and thank you for so much interest in our products! Larry

Please pass on a valuable feedback from the customers to the company management that an average customer usually chooses 55 inch or 65 inch sizes of the tv... sizes above that are out of reach for majority of average buyers...And sadly Sony management is not focusing on these sizes recently.. the competition is providing almost all sizes...

BRAVIA 3 is available in just about every imaginable size (43" - 85") so I hope you give that model a look. BRAVIA 7 is offered in 55" - 85" BRAVIA 8 is offered in 55" - 77" The only 2024 model not available in 55" is the BRAVIA 9. These are the sizes available in North American. I hope this is helpful. Thanks! Larry

For me, Sony returns on cost is impractical. The A95L is clearly superior to the LG C3/G3 & Samsung S90C/S95C. However at a 50%-150%+ price increase, the difference in performance and feature set isn’t there for me. I’m glad Sony occupies a very unique spot, often leading the industry year to year. I just wish it were closer to a 30% cost premium to get a Sony.

I respect your perspective and more importantly appreciate the way you presented you thoughts. I understand why it seems that way considering most of the attention is focus on our flagship models. A95L and this year's BRAVIA 9 will dominate the conversation and rightly so. However, when you look at last year's X90L and this year's BRAVIA 7...you may find that the performance exceeds the price. Even the BRAVIA 3 is outstanding for its class. Give the BRAVIA 7 a look and let me know if we meet that price & performance mark you're looking for. Thanks for the great comment my friend! Larry

@@LARRYfromSONY the x90l is superior to all others at that price point. In fact I hadn’t really considered some of the mid tier mini led’s. Hisense and TCL claim to have superior tech at a lower price point, but Sony’s picture quality in the X90L is just better. Sony is substantially better as a TV manufacturer as well. The Bravia 7 appears to double down on value/cost which in turn will benefit the market. I should have clarified that I was speaking of Sony OLED. And perhaps this is why Sony has gone away from OLED this year and focused on the Bravia 3,7,9 for now. The 8 appears to be an A80L with advanced computing capabilities? I’m currently shopping for a 75”-77” Mini-LED or OLED and have settled on LG or Sony for sure. I will not be buying another Samsung TV. Do you have any personal recommendations that might beat a $2,000 LG C3?

@@GatCat Great question and again a very well; thought out point with respect to the X90L. If I can clarify a small point....it is not that we have ignored or shifted away from OLED as it appears and some have reported. The truth is that aside from what we did to advance the potential of a QD-OLED panel, OLED's potential from massive improvements is nowhere near potential of mini-LED. That is why it appears that we have focused more on mini-LED. Now to your recommendation request. As you can imagine I have to avoid speaking about other brands, so I will position it this way. I have always preferred OLED in the past. My living room TV is an A95K and throughout the house I have a couple of other Sony OELDs as well. After doing some testing and comparing our BRAVIA 8 and BRAVIA 7 based on my personal viewing needs....this is the first time I am going mini-LED over OLED. The main reason why is there are periods of the day where I need an extra boost of brightness (which is why the A95K is in that room) but the ability to grab a 75" BRAVIA for the same price of the 65" BRAVIA 8 made it a easy choice. BRAVIA 7 backlight control is so much better than last years mini-LED TVs that it's almost unreal. That is my take my friend and I hope that helps you out. Thanks again for the great conversation. Let me know if there are any other questions you have. Larry

My only complaint about Sony TVs are that the google tv interface is SOOOOO freaking slow. I always have to use an Apple TV with it instead.

@@John-wc5kt Now I understand. There have been some serious changes we have made since your last TV that will make this experience feel supercharged. The series right after yours (if my guess is correct) was our first addition of a dedicated SoC to run the o/s and UI....that was a major improvement. Then starting last year, we beefed up the on-board storage in order to download as many of these ever grown apps as you like without reaching storage limits and thus slowing things down a bit as well. I am confident you will be beyond impressed my friend! Thanks for clarifying! Larry

I am so sorry about that. Unfortunately I am only in North America...but I know our peeps here were bummed about only being able to get X95L in 85" which you all enjoyed the full size run. Again, I hate that you are disappointed.

Well my friend....the great thing is that we have both the A95L and BRAVIA 9 for this year. The A95L in 2023 was actually more of a preview for the 2024 features since that TV was released so late in the year. I will tell you, that having seen them side by side....the room was split between which was preferred. BRAVIA 9 changed the way I think about my preference in panel tech. I currently have an A95K as my primary TV but the BRAVIA 9 is on my wish list now! Thanks for the comment! Larry

The Bravia 9 is a proper flagship. Just because a tv is OLED doesn’t mean it is good. Plenty of trash OLED TVs out there. You want an OLED flagship? They have the A95L. Still the best OLED on the market.
