We spray our cars with cooking spray before each season and it helps a LOT! I also do mud racing and it really helps stuff there as well. Cleanups are hours less from using it in the mud!
@rogerherring7723 жыл бұрын
I've done that too, also used wd40, silicone spray damn near anything laying around that's cheap and won't let stuff stick to it. Why waste money on purpose made chemicals. And most of the time it can be blown off with a air nozzle.

If you think a drag car gets a lot of rubber under it you should see an Australian competition Burnout car. Seen one of those guys clean the underside. Heat torch (one of those gas burners) and a paint scraper and it comes off in slabs.

The tires help a lot with the speed This is all possible because When a tire is lower in height it gives it a better chance to spin and that causes tire slip a way to fix this is to go as wide and tall as you can in the tires And that will help with acceleration and tire slip the tall the tire the less the tires and to spin and that’s good because it helps you get to top speed faster

I use the same scraper ! only I use a heat gun just to warm the rubber up ! every 50-60 passes I get over 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket ! after scrapping I take a rag with soaked in Paint Gun cleaner ! Nasty stuff if it runs down you arm and gets to your arm pit but it cleans the under side of my car so it looks like it was new!! and I go threw a pile of rags !! but they burn really good!! LOL PS My car I built back in '96 and has over 3000 passes on it ! best Et 6.96@210mph

I wonder if you could take like a circular brush that people use to detail and do the same thing on the end of a 2 speed drill. Just use the torch to harden the rubber then the drill to just throw it off. it would be less controlled and probably a little more messy but I feel like it would be much easier.

Hey Dave, Damn, never thought that much rubber would be back there like that. When it comes to pounds. 12 pounds could cost you a lost. Great video. Take care and be safe.
@Airplanefish3 жыл бұрын
I recommend once you get the rubber off then clean everything with Acetone and ceramic coat everything back there. Ot will make it much easier to remove the rubber. No more scrapping. Water thru your pressure washer will take it off. Even just regular water pressure will. Air pressure will also knock it off once ceramic coated. Areas you can't apply coating by hand just use spray ceramic coating.

I used to clean asphalt trailers the best way to take rubber off anything is emulsifier mixed with diesel fuel through a bug sprayer let sit 5 mins then pressure wash the undercarriage messy job but will get everything off perfectly you must remove tires emulsifier destroys rubber 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Hot water pressure washer works best
@85gbody973 жыл бұрын
Pledge helps it from sticking. A lot of guys that have street/strip cars that are borderline show cars will spray the sides of the lower quarter panels to stop it from sticking to the paint. What’s nice about pledge is a lil wax and grease remover on a rag will take it all off with ease but on the underside of the car I would worry about that but I bet it would make it so ya could just wipe it off damn near an stop a lot of it from even sticking

Could you use a vinyl wrap with a light adhesive, similar to the big head wall decals. You could easily remove and replace it. Probably more work than it's worth. Took you 15mins. Probably take longer just to reinstall new vinyl

Had rubber issues on our race cars at a driving school I worked for (NASCAR). Obviously, you would not want to use a scraper on your paint job. We used GoJo hand cleaner on a rag. Buy the way, we never washed the cars with water like you might think - GoJo and glass cleaner. They were a rolling billboard for our business, so they were cleaned everyday by hand before they went up to pit road, or put on a trailer to go down the road.

Good afternoon Dave, I always root for you guys when I see you on TV unfortunately I missed your Boise Idaho Firebird track race I found out about it today it was going on and I live 150 miles away. But the real reason for this comment is there is a scraper that people use taking decals off of their RVs I know I've done it. It's a heated scraper that may be something you would like to check into. Keep up the good racing. I'm the guy that sent you a picture of my Nova back in the day and it was ugly yellow

Coat it with a ceramic coating. Won’t stop the build up but should make it easier to clean off. It’s expensive but lasts a long time.
@th600mike33 жыл бұрын
@@johnlongaker7029 there are some decent ceramic coatings that are cheap on amazon, just diy apply the underside. But In my opinion better off spraying some PTFE / Teflon (teflon is ptfe just dupont brand). That stuff works great on everything. Probably will have to spray more but one can should last a while.

We used them for tile work, 2 buddies I was working with were installing tile in a shower, dude was on a ladder and climbed down hitting the other dude on his forearm lacing him wide open. He ended up with 23 stitches. Moral of the story is that them things are sharp but work great for scraping stuff lol.

I have never had a car with carbon fiber panels but that said my last full bodied car I was always scraping the rubber of the tubs, trunk pan/back of the bumper etc much like what Dave just did but I used oven cleaner, WD-40 and a putty knife and scraped the car 3 times a year. To help reduce the amount of time it took and rubber build up I gots some thin teflon coated sheets of plastic and used plastic rivets to attach it to my “trunk pan” panels and extended it to the bumper of my car as well as the wheelie bar tunnel. Additionally I Fabricobbled short extension (3”) for my wheel tubs
