Sooner AKC Master Hunt test (all 3 series) tough test - Buck’s 2nd MH test

This includes all three series of the test. It was a really challenging test. Really great setups in each series with challenging concepts.
This was Buck’s second MH test ever with his first being the weekend before. He passed both tests. Super proud of him. He was 2 years and four months old at the time of this test.

WOW!!!! I love how your take your time as a handler. I love how you label with a preview of the setup. .. First land series....Lots of advanced concepts in this test: walkup with converging marks, out of order flyer and under-the-arc blind, long go-bird, short check-down marks, honor. Second series, land-water mark so untrained retriever would be tempted to run the bank on a water mark after running the land mark. Second water blind had suction of marks and first water blind and diversion shot, so untrained retriever would be pulled right, plus cross-wind and down the shore swim very tempting to beach early on that second water blind. Third series momma-pappa setup, where some lesser trained retrievers have trouble returning near old falls, go bird close surprise mark often called the "eraser bird" which erases the memory of longer less exciting marks and also is a tempting breaking bird. Right hand momma mark on shoreline makes it impossible for a watery dog to smell if he swims fat, difficult to smell if he is up on the dike. Excellent dog work! Very advanced tests.

Impressive assessment of all the key factors in the test! You totally nailed it. You sure pay close attention. I was pleased how Buck did in the first two series, but the third was a mess. I think the eraser bird really worked on him as he didn’t seem to remember the left bird. I knew something was wrong when I was lining him up for it as he wouldn’t “lock in” like he normally does. He was wanting to get the middle bird, but I couldn’t send him for that as I knew he’d wind the left bird, just like he did. I didn’t think we were going to pass, but I talked to the judge afterward to see if I was on the bubble and he said not at all. I was surprised. I definitely need to work on erasure birds.
