Enthusiasm does it for me. If I'm thinking of buying a bike the simple excitement of that drives me to read and watch a lot of KZbin, which naturally informes me about the bike. And even once I finally own the bike, my excitement grows. I like to visually take in everything about it, which prompts questions and again makes me learn. I just assumed it was like that for every biker. Nice one mate.

I have two service manuals for the Gold Wing (and one for the Shadow) and I too like to visually inspect the motorcycle then refer back to the manual for detailed information on what this particular mechanical piece is/does. While I still know so very little, it makes me feel a bit more connected to the machine! Thank you for stopping through Brother Ash. All the best my friend!

That's the point....majority of the people don't even know what they own...and doesn't even wanna upgrade themselves...I always get to know everything of my bike....not all I know....but I keep that learning curve on...

I certainly don't know EVERYTHING, but I try to stay up on the basics. I think I'm with you man!

Goldwings just make sense....that bike definitely is one that should exist. Well....I think it took me about 20 hours on my bike before I got above 4th....Maybe the guy just forgot, or bought it and never rode it. My dad spent more time on his bike with me two weeks ago than he did in the three years previous....probably. You know it's funny....I've realized that I own the KLX250s in a much more significant way than just owning one. It is 'my bike', I know every part and detail about each generation. I've taken apart it's predecessor, and the one before that through the my neighbor down the streetish (who asked for a sticker that I mailed about 1/4 mile). I know which components are used in other Kawasaki models (just bought a clutch for a '93 KX125), international variants, all the mods....it's the worst. I get so many questions about everything forever...like I know something...which I do....but not always from personal experience.

When I think of people who "get up and close" with their bikes, I can think of no one else (that I know anyway) who has done so in the intimate way that you have. Sure I know that there are others out there; I just don't know them. And thus, this makes you a beacon of knowledge for others who share your same passion for Kawasaki dual sports. While being inundated with questions must surely be overwhelming at times, the gift that you are providing to others is invaluable. I'm sure so many across the planet have benefited by your obsession.

Very interesting I didn't know that about the GoldWing windshields and faring. Cool stuff, This is like a little history lesson on Honda Gold Wings. He may not have ridden it much and or he inherited it or something, surely he would know if the bike was 5 speed if he had ridden it all. Goodness,. I agree, I like to know everything i can about a bike I am going to buy or own. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week my friend.
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
I don't think he rode it much at all. And I didn't get the sense that he inherited it but I could be wrong. Maybe he just rode it around town and never had the need to get it into 5th gear(?) Who knows...

Enjoyed your video.You were a nice guy and let it go.He was a little ignorant. I just love these bikes. I like the boxer style motors. So smooth. I have a '79 and 2001 goldwing. I ride the hell out of them.
@Broncoride8 жыл бұрын
Previous owner really didn't ride it at all, if he didn't know about the 5th gear. That's wild. Unique and cool bike you have there.
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
How could you NOT know about 5th gear? I was floored man.
@MrAusadventure8 жыл бұрын
That's amazing! You'd think they would do some research before buying a bike and then would learn more intricate details whilst owning the bike. Crazy! I get the feeling that the previous owner of my bike may have been similar. They'd owned it for 3 years from new and only done 3000 kilometres on it which is nothing!
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
I guess everyone just approaches it differently. I'm like you; I try to understand as much as I can...even after "tying the knot." I'm constantly getting to know the bike more and more each day!

thats strange, I feel like most people actually get to know a bike before they buy one haha, interesting bike though! you should make a documentery/review on the goldwing someday!
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
Ha! I agree man. I was floored about how little the guy knew about the bike. I just took me by surprise that's for sure. And documentary/review? Hmmm...maybe!

well........ at this moment, I am planning on getting a new bike around this time next year and I have already dived into the study and research of which bike will be the replacement........ it's down to 4 bikes :-) so I guess that with a tear of research I should know the in's and out's of the bike......... as for the one I own, I have pulled pretty much everything off it except the engine, well not the whole engine and put it all back together.... a few times, I guess I know it pretty well ;-)

That *is* surprising. For me, it's surprising how much knowledge my hb has about bikes; I just look at him like "wow...how did you get to be so smart?" 'Course, he worked on them from a kid & he has a photographic memory. Hey! You have a frunk, too! Cool! Yeah, helps with that low COG, for sure!
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
I'm like you...I'm in awe at those who know SO much about various different motorcycles. I know but a drop in the bucket. That said, I at least know the basics related to the bikes that I own. Nothing extensive, but at least the basics! And I wouldn't quite refer to my faux-gas tank storage area as a full-on frunk...more like a lockable glovebox! LOL!
@WheelsNotHeels8 жыл бұрын
LoL...I was just messing with ya about having a frunk...not everybody can be so lucky. ;)

Very strange, did he even ride the bike, sounds like he at least never got out of fourth gear nor filled it with gas. I exhausted KZbin when I got my bike and learnt as much as possible from that, fair enough I do have problems remembering some stuff, lol. But that's why I write things down. But I agree, you should know the basics. Knowing the basics could get back on the road if you breakdown in the middle of nowhere. Tcrs dude✊

That's an excellent point man. Knowing the basics could really help you out in practical way if you do find yourself stranded!

He didn't know where the tank was? Hope he never filled the "tank" by accident! Especially as he filled it often, not ever using op gear :-D

@Arill08 жыл бұрын
I think some sort of research before buying anything is prudent. But especially before buying something that has this amount of engineering behind it and that you count on getting you from point a to point b safely. I mean come on a 4 Speed bike and he didn't know where the gas tank was? That's just poor ownership all around.
@SoopaBee8 жыл бұрын
Ha! I was really surprised with the four speed comment...I kind of gave him a pass with not knowing where the tank was. But even that was super weird to hear. Who knows, maybe he didn't buy the bike as I was meant to believe. Maybe it was given to him(?)
