I’ve shot many micro-9’s over the past few years but I shot a P365 for the first time a couple weeks ago. It occurred to me just how much Sig changed the industry with the P365. Ever since then, we’ve seen the full spectrum of manufacturers producing slim, 10+1 (or higher) capacity micro-9mm’s that are easily concealable, to manufacturers realizing “Hey wait a minute… We can basically make modular, full-size, optics-ready duty handguns that are only about 1 inch thick using the P365 formula!” Pretty remarkable. I’m surprised to see Glock letting this opportunity pass them by. They should really be doing more to expand the 43X & 48 models- give them a modular serialized chassis, improve their OEM magazine design to accommodate higher capacity, etc. Can’t rest on your laurels for too long in this industry. The competition is fierce.
@Shenmue063 ай бұрын
@@PreservationOfLiberty Technically it's Smith&Wesson that changed the industry with the shield. Yeah it's true that sig added more rounds but Smith&Wesson are the one's that created the modern micro pistol.
@PreservationOfLiberty3 ай бұрын
@@Shenmue06 true, Smith & Wesson did a fantastic job of downsizing the 9mm into something that was slim, reliable, & easily concealable. However the Shield was still at its core a downsized single-stack. Sig figuring out a way to overcome the restrictions on capacity by engineering a hybrid style magazine was what really moved the industry into a whole new direction. That, combined with a modular serialized chassis that could be removed from a micro-size frame & installed into a full-size frame were the two things that really set the standard for most of the new designs we’re seeing manufacturers coming up with now. Everyone is copying it (for good reason). I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t even own a single Sig Sauer firearm. I just appreciate the innovation for what it is.

@Shenmue063 ай бұрын
@PreservationOfLiberty I carried the p365 for 2 years and in my option it's one of the worst micro options on the market. The trigger reach is extremely short and there's zero room for your supporting thumb on the side of the frame. The trigger is mushy and complete garbage. it's a lot snappier than the shield and g43. You would have to be an insanely good shooter to be accurate with the p365 past 10 yard's. People that only own the p365 are going to believe that it's good because they haven't experienced the other options. The shield plus is a far better option. The micro option from kimber is also far better than the p365. Sig did a horrible job with the frame layout which is why so many people immediately replace it. The trigger in the p365 is just as bad as a glock trigger if not worse. I couldn't believe how mushy the trigger was and the reset felt slow as it moved your finger forward. I don't think that anyone should buy the sig p365 or the glock 43x. The glock 43x is single stack and people have issues with the aftermarket 15 round magazine's. In my opinion people should buy the optics ready m&p shield plus or the micro option from kimber if they want something that actually fits their hands and has a decent trigger. I absolutely hate the p365 with a passion 😂. I don't care about the removable frames. I want a good frame from the factory! The frames on the p365 are super cheap, thin and they scratch easily. Even the texturing on the frame doesn't last very long. The shield plus has an awesome frame and texturing from the factory so there's no need to replace it.
@Shenmue063 ай бұрын
@seanwhitman4365 I'm pretty sure that you're the only person lol. 99% of people want more rounds. You're going to wish that you had those 5 extra rounds if you're fighting multiple people. There's a small chance that you'll need more than 10/11 but those things does happen! I don't think that anyone should buy the 43x because there's too many other good options. It's a good reliable choice but it's outdated. Chances are that you'll be ok though.

So i figured i carried it one in the pipe for about two weeks and that’s all i had unbeknownst to me. Had i been in a situation one shot was all i had with a mag that couldn’t load the next round. The mag springs of r the 43 are designed to push fhe weight of six rounds upwards reliably. Not 8, 9, 10 as some extensions. Hyve sis that every once in a while this happens to a mag spring. The best way to avoid this is choose a pistol worth a higher capacity. The opposition will be bringing it to the table now a days. I remember the days when 5 in a j frame as enough. Not anymore. I'm no stranger to Canik, had a few pass through my pack of handguns. Kept one as a permanent member until about a month or so ago when I recruited a Canik Mete full sized. Dang I do like it. So much of hand gunning is subjective, but the full sized Mete is larger than I like for EDC. Then voila .. the Mete MC9LS. Got it out of the background check detention yesterday, changed it to a tritium orange front sight and Talon grips. Off to the range. It's everything you said here. I opt for less take up in the trigger so I changed it out for a Freedomsmith that virtually eliminated any take up. My LS performed flawlessly out of the box. (I do a couple patches and lube before we go to the range.) I dislike most everything about the Canik included holsters except that they include one. I have some pistols with dots, some without. This one won't wear one. I think there are pros and cons either way. I view a gun as good for me .. or not good for me. I don't do "affordable" or those kinds of qualifiers. If I really want it, I buy it when I can. If I like it, I keep it and shoot it until I don't. I was a Glock fan for years. Now I have more diversity. My favorite is 10mm's so I would be thrilled if Canik ever builds one. S&W M&P compact 10 with an Apex trigger is really good overall. The OEM trigger is junk. All my pistols wear tritium orange front sights or red dots. They all wear Talon grips. Most have Apex or Freedomsmith triggers. When I handle them, they all have a familiar feel in my hand. I think it's important a pistol feels familiar when I draw it from the holster, regardless of which pistol it is. Thanks for all your good work and assessment of pistols. I value your views and take them to heart before I purchase a new pistol.

It's going to be just as difficult to hide as a glock 17 because it's the grip length that's actually noticeable while it's underneath your shirt.

your right they should’ve left it a 15 round magazine which would’ve been perfect fit for me
@Shenmue063 ай бұрын
@johnpena6771 Yeah a compact grip would have been fantastic. Canik doesn't always make rational decisions unfortunately. For an example they put micro optic cuts on their full size duty options which is ridiculous. They actually believe that people would rather have a tiny micro optic on a duty weapon than to simply buy some suppressor sights lol. They're the only company that does that and a majority of canik owners complain about it. Micro optics belong on micro options not duty options. I wish Canik would stop attempting to be a budget product because it has a lot of potential. The only flaws to the walther pdp is that it has a gigantic slide and it's snappy. If Canik would simply make their frame/grip similar to the pdp, keep the slide smaller than the pdp and add a full size optic cut it would be one of the best options on the market. I also think that they should increase the price a hundred dollars so that they can increase the quality of the parts. Tactical considerations owns a bunch of caniks and he told me in a comment that the parts in the canik are cheaper made than the m&p, glock and CZ. He would know more than the average person because he owns a bunch of caniks and reviews this stuff for a living. Canik is a budget option with a good factory trigger. The internals, the metal, polymer and slide coating are cheaper made. If it didn't have a fantastic factory trigger people wouldn't be buying it. The logical choice would be to simply buy a walther pdp if you want a good factory trigger but people don't want to spend the money. The canik is basically the walther off brand because they copied the walther design. What people don't realize is that you can't buy oem replacement springs for the canik so it's only going to last 5 years if you practice a lot. You have to replace the springs for general maintenance. With the walther pdp, m&p and glock you can buy oem replacement springs.

Which normal sized pistol mags are as thin as Canic's? Maybe Beretta 92? Would be great if more companies will develop thin pistols for already existing and cheap magazines.

Trying to decide between the MC9LS and the Mete SF. Held the MC9LS last week and expect to see the Mete SF in a couple of weeks. Neither the Scheels or gun shop in town have the Mete SF on hand.

Very nice...but I'll stick with my Tisas PX9 Carry... similar & also made in Turkey and so much more comfortable when all four fingers fit on the grip...

So does the red dot stay on if you're carrying it when you're moving around seeing it has shake awake

I haven't been excited for a firearm in a couple of years. I think I want one of these. I might wait until after Christmas. The price should drop next year But I wouldn't mind one of these with a red dot.

Can you please review the Taurus 22LR TUC versus the Taurus PF 22 Poly LR that you reviewed two years ago? Can each operate cheap ammo?

The deeper beavertail might convince me to pick one up. I had a SF elite briefly. With small hands the grip was too bulky for me. This model might fix that.

I'm seriously thinking about grabbing an LS. I only have two concerns, I've shot a few Caniks and the triggers were REALLY light. I also loathe ambi slide stops, got rid of a VP9 for that reason. Was always locking the slide with it. Maybe I just need to work on my grip, but I have giant ape hands.

@@davids5006 cool…. I couldn’t even get 25 rounds out before mine broke. Canik replaced it with a new one but only after the business i bought it from had to send it in since Canik ignored me constantly. Oh and all the people that needed their recoil springs and barrels replaced with the new feed ramps. One thing i learned is use these reviews for information not for reliability and credibility opinions. Just because you’ve had a good experience with mc9 doesn’t mean others have and trust me there are tons and tons of people that have had completely different experiences than you. If you research it you will know. And no KZbin reviewer that received a review model had any of these issues. Least not on camera. Again I like the gun but I just don’t trust their name. I hope they did their homework for these two models because it was lackluster on the mc9.

@@davids5006 I have an MC9. Have had nothing but problems with it. Sent it back to Canik for gunsmithing. Just got it back. Took it to the range and still had failure to feed and light strikes. They put a stronger slide spring in it. I even purchased 9mm Nato ammo. I just did my own gunsmithing on it and put the original spring back in it and will shoot it tomorrow. Hopefully it will shoot ok. I will point out I have a Rival-S which shoots great and has had no issues. Until the MC9 shoots consistently I cannot use it an EDC. I ended up buying a Sig365XL for EDC.
@Thefoxsaiddingding3 ай бұрын
@@SteveHorn-d5vunfortunately this is an issue with so many mc9s and Canik has done nothing about it to let people know. All they do is wait for you to send it in. Anyone with bad springs and original feed ramps should get them sent automatically or notified.
